The first tacos remind me of San Diego. I've been craving authentic fish tacos since I moved back from the West to Michigan. I was pleasantly surprised to find the closest and tastiest at Fishtales! My husband raved about the mushroom Philly sandwich. I had a few bites, and he was right! The flavor of the meat was phenomenal! We enjoyed the atmosphere with the great tunes played on the jukebox and the very affordable and tasty drinks! Thanks again from Saranac, MI!!
7:15 pm, we came to the door hungry and ready to order. My daughter is six and was really hungry. The owner said they were just closing but were open to take the table. He said to take a seat for the order. I waited 25 minutes and went to the counter and asked if I could just make my order at the bar. He said to sit down and his wife would come to us. She eventually came to us after 10 more minutes to say we can have drinks only. Again my daughter is six and as a restaurant I would never imagine turning away a kid who was hungry when people were still sitting getting served. I would of taken that they closed right from the outset if he didn’t want to take the table. It felt like he was playing with us.
Fun place to enjoy good food, live music and friendly people including the owners.
Cute little place, currently up for sale. Great location! Dining wasn't busy at all and the menu seemed decent but food was not appetizing at all. Fish was over salted and hard to put down, over priced considering.
Would not consider safe nor clean.. Decks on cabins are unstable,, rotted wood, boat hoists sitting everywhere.. cabin was dirty.. Dead bugs all over the walls,, cobwebs in corners, cabinets filthy. Host and hostess were nowhere to be found after taking our $$. We lost power and they never even checked to make sure everyone was okay after the storm. Worst place weve6ever stayed.
Ordered the poor man’s lobster wasn’t very good got the Parmesan brussels sprouts again not very good got a salad sliced tomato and cut up lettuce not with 25 bucksRooms: 2/5
Great location about halfway up the lake so made it easy to go either direction. Cabin was nice but could use a little maintenance / updating. Host was very responsive to anything that came up. Successful fishing required a lot of time to find fish and figure out what they wanted. Caught very few the first few days but did well toward the end of our stay. Beautiful area with lots of waterfalls and places to explore or just relax and unwind.
I was NOT expecting the most delicious meal of my vacation to be here! The panko walleye and broiled whitefish was by far the best fish dinner of our U.P. adventure!! The service was fast and even comical as our waiter danced to the music as he tended to us! The view of the lake was while dining was the proverbial “icing on the cake” or, perhaps, that was the peanut butter pasty?! Do not pass this dining gem up! You will NOT regret it!!
We went in search of whitefish & walleye hey - when in the UP... and were not disappointed. The fish was perfectly prepared and they took care to prepare mine gluten free. Definitely get the brussels sprouts as your side.Service: 4/5
AMAZING food! They go way above and beyond your standard restaurant stop on the lake. Pictures is a specialty cocktail “sex on the lake” and fresh guacamole with homemade chips. The fish tacos and poor mans lobster are particularly amazing, but I think it’s pretty hard to go wrong with anything on the menu!
