First Ship Moving Burlington

I have previously posted negatively regarding this company due to my experience using them for transportation of my items from Mississauga, ON to Maple Ridge BC, as I have found multiple items missing and damaged. I expressed that damaged items can be expected due to loading and transportation, however missing items should not be expected. I utilized the insurance for both items missing and damaged. The claims mediator, Karen has reached out to me and help was offered immediately. However insurance was unable to assist me with missing items due to the signing of an auditing sheet upon furniture unloading where the driver "Elected not to check off" and had us sign the document. Since expressing my complaint, the companies VP, Rick Taylor has reached out to me and we came to a mutual agreement on a settlement for the missing items. If you are deciding to use Taylor's services paying extra for insurance is a must, as it should be with any moving company due to unintentional damages through loading and driving. Customer service with Karen claims mediator and Rick has been strictly professional.

Good until they had my business, and then decreasing returns, and now I feel ripped off. The initial phase of this move Hamilton to UK was great- the booking agent was responsive, flexible, and very professional. I had to reschedule the pick-up multiple times, and aside from the movers turning in up one time when we had cancelled it they hadn't been told there were no problems planning the move. On pick-up day they missed a large item that was on the pick-up list an 8'x10' wool rug worth a few hundred $$, which was unfortunately not caught by my friend supervising. My possessions were stored safely for 2 months until a shipment was scheduled, but Taylor's didn't tell me my possessions had shipped. The first I heard was from their counterpart in England saying they would be arriving in port imminently. Since we thought we still had months to go, we were caught unaware. Of course, with shipping delays these days it still took another 6 weeks to get to us, but I had asked several times to be told when they shipped. The big problem came when the goods arrived - there were some boxes that were felling apart as the movers brought them in, others that were packed inadequately broken picture frames and vases, and a dresser and heirloom coffee table that had damage from the move. The dresser, a solid wood, good quality piece which had barely been used, has scratches and dents on 3 sides, and the drawers no longer fit properly. I filed an insurance claim, but was told there was a $500 deductible- which is not mentioned at all on the insurance contract! It seems to me if they damage my furniture in transit they should pay for the damage, whether it is insured or not which it was, and if there is a deductible it should say that on the insurance contract which it does not. When the time comes to move back to Canada, they will definitely not be getting my business!
