I discovered this place a week ago and have eaten here 3 times already. Excellent food at a fair price! The restaurant has a nice vibe and is super clean. We waited at the bar while our table was being prepped and after we left the bar I noticed the staff cleaning the menus and bar counter already. Clean! Very kid friendly as well as I had my baby and toddler with me and they had all the plastic plates and coloring books etc. Lots of high chairs available. Fish quality is excellent and each dish was a hit. Forgot to take pics the first 2 times I ate here. Kid-friendliness: Excellent
The food was fresh and tasted wonderful, in my opinion, I would say one of the better Japanese restaurants in Edmonton. The donburi bowls were great and had just the right amount of food to keep you filled. The sushi, according to my kids, was the best they have had. ; The restaurant has a modern aesthetic and is clean and bright. Southwest Edmonton is lucky to have this gem tucked away in the Windermere area.
Didn't find out about this place until now. They opened back in May 2023. We were very happy with the food here. Inside is very modern, spacious enough, good ambience. It was not super busy and service was prompt and courteous. The Alaskan Roll was pretty good withe good fish to rice ratio. The Chicken Karaage was very tender and flavourful without feeling overbearingly fried / greasy. The Fishman Donburi was honestly a highlight. Fish was appropriately fresh with the thickest cuts I've seen anywhere - which meant a great fish to rice ratio. The yellow picked radish pieces in the Donburi added another dimension of flavour which was appreciated. Overall we were impressed with the good value and quality for the price of the dishes, and would definitely come again
Highly recommend! The staff is very friendly and it is a family run business so they treat everyone like family. So yummy, everything was so fresh and tasty! We started with a miso soup which was packed with flavour and big pieces of seaweed! The chicken was incredibly tender and crispy, and the sauce that paired it was so good, sweet and tangy. The sashimi portions were huge and well worth the chefs choice. The sushi platter was so filling and also really fresh! Dinner was great, and it won’t break the bank either, which was a nice surprise! I’d call ahead to see if they have space because it was consistently packed while we were there, which is an awesome sign! We will definitely be ordering take-out or going back again soon!!
Salmon was prepared really well! Fresh, no fishiness or sliminess. I enjoyed how they added diced sweet soy mushrooms? to the rice to help balance out the flavour. We also had chicken cutlet with curry that was good. More of a lighter, spiced curry than a thicker and mild kind. The decor is really nice! Thank you for opening here
Excellent new Japanese restaurant in west area. I love their Fishman Bowl as the Sashimi are way more than the rice. Not too many restaurants provide Japanese pickles with rice, but they do and I know they make it by themselves, that’s the traditional way to serve in Japan. Clean and tidy environment, and lots of Japanese beer and sake to select.
Wow! We had the volcano roll, the curry broth udon with chicken, and beef Donburi. It was all flavorful, and cooked well. The chicken was even crispy in the soup - perfection. Service was excellent and quick. Everything was timed just right between appetizer and meal and completion. We will definitely be back and I can see this place becoming a favorite.
Update: Salmon lover bowl is made in heaven! As of June, 2023: Five visits in, this Donburi joint has me addicted. Service is top-notch every visit, and they boldly skip tipping for pickups—a refreshing change. Most meals landed a solid 4 stars, with a sublime Saturday sushi roll and don soaring to 5. Recently, some dishes missed key ingredients—a hiccup, forgivable for a newbie. They're shaping up with clear potential. Here's to refined recipes and even fresher catches!
A good addition to the restaurants in the Windermere neighborhoods. Plain decor with an extensive menu. The food is basic Japanese but everything tasted good. Friendly, efficient service staff. Busy both for dine in and takeaway, a sign of a good restaurant. Limited seating so if you plan to eat in reservations are recommended.Food: 4/5
Atmosphere: It is a super comfy place! Only a handful of tables and you can view the kitchen right from the front of the store! Chairs were comfy and the interior was bright! Service: Wow, just wow. The servers were the sweetest, and I even got to speak to the owner while I was there for lunch. They were kind, listened to any feedback I had, and even gave their favorites on the menu. You can't get better service than that. Food: THIS IS THE BEST CURRY KATSU IN EDMONTON. Sweet, savory, flavorful. Nothing I could say negative to the dish. Portion was good and the homemade breadcrumb breading was crunchy! Overall rating: I will be back again! Maybe even next week.
