What is it?
Osteopathic manipulative medicine, OMM, is hands-on care. It involves using the hands to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury.

Who Can Benefit?
OMM can help people of all ages and backgrounds, including newborns and the elderly. The treatment can be used to ease pain, promote healing and increase overall mobility. OMM is often used to treat muscle or joint pain. But it can also help patients with a number of other health problems such as: asthma, arthritis, sinus disorders, carpal tunnel syndrome, migraines, anxiety, and menstrual pain.

When appropriate, OMM can complement, and even replace, drugs or surgery. In this way, OMM brings an important dimension to standard medical care.

What Can I Expect During a Treatment?
Unlike M.D.s, osteopathic physicians (DOs) treat the body as a whole, diagnosing, treating symptoms by isolating the source, and therefore the actual cause of the symptoms. After diagnosis, your osteopath will use gentle manipulation and healing touch, in addition to western medical practices, to correct bone, joint, soft tissue, and muscle misalignments.
