Fairbanks Memorial Hospital

About

Fairbanks Memorial Hospital has been serving the greater Fairbanks community for over 40 years.

Story

Fairbanks Memorial Hospital opened its doors in 1972 thanks to the voluntary efforts and monetary contributions of the citizens of Fairbanks. A 152-bed hospital, FMH serves patients from throughout the Interior of Alaska and provides care in more than 27 specialties.

As a community hospital, and as the most advanced medical facility for hundreds of miles, we are extremely committed to treating the medical needs of everyone who comes through our doors.

The Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation was born out of the principles that founded our community hospital more than a hundred years ago; the promise to offer quality, innovative, personalized care to our community. This promise, along with community support, allows us to work with physicians and hospitals around the country to provide the best care possible for our patients – a level of care not typically seen in a community our size.

We have provided generations of care in the Fairbanks community, and we look forward to continuing to make sure that your family is well taken care of, at all stages of their lives, for many years to come.

Mission

“We exist to make a difference in people’s lives through excellent patient care.”

This mission statement focuses everyone in the organization on a singular purpose – excellent patient care.

My experiences at FMH were very good. We had a cancer diagnosis on my daughter here, who was also born here. A few gripes: my daughter's mother was ignored after the birth, when she kept asking for help with an issue that turns out, she was correct. Could have been bad, and the nurses didn't catch it. Also, for some unfathomable reason, they will not look up the policy group numbers for medicaid patients. They only accept the cards. Denali Kid Care no longer publishes the cards! There's basically no way to use medicaid here without the intervention of a social worker, which we also had to do. Seriously, just look up the group number. There's no reason to bill thousands of dollars to the patient who is actually covered under Medicaid. Stupid! Please change the policy I would love to change this review.

These people lie in your medical records and they don't ask what your symptoms are nor actually run any test. These people pretend to be medical professionals. They're not really. They don't know much. Had a doctor Google symptoms of an overdose. I can Google myself.

If you have a serious issue and need help right away they don't care , they say first come first served ,even if there are more urgent emergencies coming in. The ER personal up front to check people in seriously needs to be more professional and compassionate. They rather sit around and gossip than do their job,

Insensitive and incompetent are the words that come to mind when thinking about FMH. They terminated a disabled veterans spouse from the NICU on veterans day. They did this because after 3 months of a 6 month training they didn't train her to the point she should be and blame her because they scheduled her at nights which lacked training opportunities. In addition there was no universality of treatment or care from the trainers who were constantly contradicting each other. Worst hospital to seek treatment or employment. It will all be your fault!

The hospital released my mother who has dementia. Not to the care of anyone. She is literally wandering the streets of Fairbanks. If you need care, I recommend going to a veterinarian before these people.
