What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy uses advanced knowledge of the body to restore, maintain and maximize health and quality of life.

Physiotherapists use a wide range of drug-free techniques to relief pain, restore function and prevent injury. Techniques include: Joint mobilization and manipulation, exercise and stretching, massage, and electrophysical agents (eg. TENS, EMS, ice, hot pack, ultrasound, cold laser, ect.).
A Physical Therapist can help:
- Spinal conditions (ex. Neck and back pain)
- Headaches
- Peripheral joint conditions (ex. Shoulder tendonitis and/or impingement, carpal tunnel syndrome, hip pain, knee and ankle sprains, arthritis, tennis elbow)
- Vestibular problems (ex. BPPV)
- Motor vehicle accidents (ex. whiplash)
- Work related injuries (WCB)
- Sports injuries (ex. muscle tears or strains, & sprains)
- Post surgical conditions

- Injury Prevention
- TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint) problems or TMD (temporal mandibular dysfunction.
What can I expect at a physiotherapy appointment?
While attending physiotherapy you can expect to receive an initial assessment and subsequent treatment of physical symptoms and limited movement caused by injury, aging, disability or a medical condition. A physiotherapist will also educate you on your condition, its cause, and will then develop an individualized treatment plan.
Starting at the very beginning of treatment your physiotherapist will teach you how to stay well and avoid future injury. Physiotherapists strive to empower the individual through education to promote self-management and well-being.
