Based on two visits from out of town: Cozy, atmospheric Mexican bar with a small but hip contemporary Mexican fusion menu and drinks. The staff were all friendly and service was reasonable. The space offers outdoor seating as well. The atmosphere may not be for everyone. Would visit again. Did visit again around 3pm and place was relatively empty. Food was still good.
Service was quick, seated on the patio which is quite nice on a summer day. My reason for the 2 stars are: 1. When we ordered, although it was quick to be received, there were multiple servers asking if we ordered an item that was meant for other tables. I also noticed when my drink was ready, it was being brought to another table and then rerouted to ours. It just seemed like a lack of communication 2. I’m ok paying the price for quality items but the tacos we ordered where small for the price and the pork tacos I had ordered didn’t have any sauce which made them very dry. There was pineapple in them but that didn’t resolve the lack of moisture. The guacamole was not horrible but I did feel like it could use some more flavour. Other than the minor issues, the aesthetic of the location was nice and I can imagine it looks better at night with the lights. Try it out and prove my review wrong, will have to try it out again in hope for better experience
The best Mexican food I had in Canada! Specifically the nachos are the best and something which is not conventional styled. Their fish tacos and quesadillas are delicious too. The place has an amazing vibe. Flavours are excellent here. Definitely recommend this place. One thing the place gets busier so you should make reservations.
Absolutely delicious food, I highly recommend this place! We were a group of three and were seated at one of the nice "bench" tables. We got the mango salad and guacamole comes with the tortilla chips as appetizers. For our mains, we got the shrimp and chicken tacos, and the quesadilla. The quesadilla was really good, there was a hint of truffle! I think this is a great place to come for small to mid-sized groups, as you get the opportunity to share and taste more items on the menu! However, the indoor seating is limited but there is also an outdoor patio!
Nice experience overall. The entrees are really good and tasty. I can't say the same about the cauliflower tacos... missing a lot of spices and taste!
Loved the wall art and atmosphere here. We got a pint of Dos Equis to go with the nachos which are unconventional, they're made with gyoza and guac, mix of tacos, and the cornbread. Everything was good and they even made a mistake and brought us double orders of the nachos which we didn't mind ;. Bartender was a super friendly guy and service was quick.
Escondite Old Port is probably the nicest of all locations with their terrace facing Boulevard Saint-Laurent directly and the Latin music blasting. We didn’t have a reservation but we were directly greeted and seated by the hostess. We ordered drinks mojito and wine which were generously made. As for the food, we ordered tacos: pork, fried chicken and beef. The beef was a little dry, but everything was perfectly seasoned otherwise. We also ordered the nachos which look like dumplings with cheese inside and guacamole on top. It was delicious as well. Perhaps, the portions could’ve been more generous, they were small. Overall, Escondite has good food and great service!
I was with a very good friend looking for a place to walk in and dine in Old Port. All places were fully booked. We kind of stumbled upon this fascinating Mexican restaurant. What a luck! Extremely scrumptious food and nice cocktails. Waitresses were quite nice. It felt so good sitting outside in their beautifully decorated patio. Next time, I wanna check out the inside! Looked quite tempting =
Great experience. We had the mango salad and nachos to start. The mango salad was a huge portion and really delicious, all the flavours and texture mixed well together. The nachos are actually stuffed cheese in a fried dumpling topped with guac. We weren’t too sure what to expect but we enjoyed it so much we ordered a second one. Then we had beef, porc and baja fried cod tacos. They were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The beef taco was my favourite, most taco places tend to over cook it then it becomes really hard and chewy, but not this one! For dessert, we had Nutella churros. I thought that it was over fried and the batter was quite salty despite the sugar coating and Nutella dip. But the service was excellent and ambiance is fun. Overall, would recommend!
Had a good time there. The service was great however the food was not as expected. The tacos were dry and unseasoned. I was expecting more seasoning and spices know that this is a Mexican restaurant.
