Really friendly staff. Great breakfast. Finding the parking was a bit tricky for someone who isn’t from the city. Could use more signs. Very close to the Metro! Super convenient location to explore Montreal. My room was massive. Took off one star because the bedding was quite thin and my room was cold even with the heat on max. Despite that the bed was very comfortable, and no bed bugs!
Positives: - Free breakfast with made to order option. - Free happy hour drinks and chips every evening. - Great location. Situation between Old Port, downtown and Chinatown. - Decent sized rooms Negatives: - Decors are very outdated. Furnitures really show ages. - Smallish bed. Double beds felt smaller than regular full size. - Our room wasn't cleaned very well. When we first arrived, we had some medicine bottles in our bedroom and a froze bottle of -water in the fridge. - Service quality is also questionable. We booked a room for 4 people and only received one set of towels when we arrived. Contacted front desk twice for additional towels and they were delivered until 3 hours later.
I enjoyed my short stay at Embassy Suites Montreal. The staff was amazing, the food was very delicious especially the vast variety of choices for breakfast. The room was large and comfortable. I even had a fireplace and jacuzzi in the room. The gym was convenient. I will definitely go back when next I visit Montreal. Thanks to Bernard in the breakfast room and everyone who made my stay comfortable.
We stayed here for 7 nights... I was a bit skeptical after reading through the reviews at first, but I think some of the comments are over the top. First, the service is pretty good, very responsive and excellent in the restaurant. Each guest gets free breakfast and drink incl. alcohol one per night of staying. The breakfast is good has everything you would expect. The only improvement they need is to modernize the hotel. It is a bit dated now, it would be hard to compete with the newer hotels. Our toilet was leaking but the hotel immediately put us into another room.
Location is good - very near tourist locations like the waterfront, Notre Dame cathedral. Public transport options nearby too. Service sucks. We requested multiple times in a day maybe seven times to have our room cleaned. They never did. They gave us snacks for the hassle. But snacks can't compensate for a cleaner room, fresh towels, change of sheets, etc. We had to repeatedly request for even just new towels, if they couldn't clean our room, cause we had already placed our towels on the floor to indicate we wanted a new batch when we asked for room service in the morning. We came back at the end of the day, nothing cleaned. Breakfast food isn't great. Coffee was always unavailable. I had to always inform their staff that the coffee had run out 2 out of the 2 mornings I was there. Nothing great also, just eggs and bacon and sausages, same thing each day. Well I was only there for 2 days. Room is good though. Spacious. Bathroom had complete toilettries.
We stayed for 2 nights and here are the pros and cons: Pros: - I liked how spacious the room was - The location is great. - Everyone was really nice. - Parking price is not bad compared to other hotels. - Free breakfast included. - Bed is comfortable. Cons: -The restaurant and room service close at 09:30 pm when we booked it said 11:00pm. - Our room was not cleaned even though the cleaning lady came into our room to take out the garbage, we would like to have our bed made at least. - TV remotes didn’t work or at least the battery needed to be replaced. - With only one person preparing the egg options at the breakfast buffet you can expect long queues anywhere between 9:00-10:00 am. - Not sure if this is expected in Canada but no fruit was offered whatsoever in the buffet, maybe this is usual. - No one ever offered to help with the luggage, I’m used to be helped with it whenever I go to a Hilton or any other hotel. With that being said I’d definitely come back because for me the pros outweigh the cons and I didn’t spend too much time at the hotel anyway.
Hilton Honors members be aware and I would recommend staying somewhere else. I stayed in December 2022 for 3 nights. The reservation was for three nights, I stayed for three nights, and paid for three nights. However the hotel checked me out of the room the night before I left therefore only got credit for 2 nights. Therefore limiting your progress towards next years status. The Diamond Desk can’t help correct it and the hotel seem incompetent to help. I have called multiple times. This in addition to the large upfront deposit they require makes me think of a third world country hotel.
This hotel is terrible. This is my first time to write such a bad comment for a hotel. I can’t believe that after we put “do not disturb” on the door, there is still a cleaner directly uses the key and breaks into our room for four times in a morning. When we tried to communicate with her, she yelled to us and refused to communicate. Moreover, the ground is dirty. It is also hard to get breakfast because the supply is little and slow. But the manager at the front desk saves one star for the hotel, which is the only advantage of this hotel.
The experience of staying at the Embassy Suites Montreal on Ste-Antoine was remarkable for the remarkably dingy property and low standard of service. We stayed at the hotel from Nov 7th to Nov 11th, 2022. The rate we paid for our 2-bedroom suite was $536 before taxes. The equivalent room next door at the Westin for non-Bonvoy members is $383 before taxes. According to staff, the Embassy Suites Montreal property has not been renovated for over ten years, it is scheduled for renovation in 2023. The lobby, hallways, elevators, parking area and the room, were dingy and dark and poorly maintained. The parking elevator area was filthy, the call buttons were damaged. I am curious to know if the inside of the elevator door is on the list to be wiped down. The hallway carpet may have been replaced recently, but the dim lighting and old paint made it hard to tell. The room? The tile flooring grout was dark grey when it should have been cream. The faceplate on the fireplace was broken and not hung properly. On Wednesday, I called the reception desk for plates and cutlery for four. A service for two was provided, and a single glass. The bathtub was stained. The shower stall had visible mould between the shower base and wall, then continued its journey up the wall. I mentioned this to the front desk the morning of Nov 8th, requesting some sort of service to address the issue, after being told the hotel was sold out and the only other room available was the same 2-bedroom suite. I wasn't offered to view the optional room or any other resolutions. On Wednesday morning, while I was in the lobby, the concierge asked if I needed anything, I requested some action on the mouldy shower. I saw he addressed this with the front desk staff. On Wednesday & Thursday morning when housekeeping came to the room, I again respectfully requested that the shower mould be addressed, hopefully with a disinfectant or bleach-based cleaner. On Wednesday and Thursday, while we declined a full room service. We requested fresh towels. After handing over our used towels, I requested a couple extra face and hand towels. I was told that only three face towels, two hand towels and two bath towels would be available. That was after she dropped one of the face towels on the carpet in the hallway, shook it out, and handed it to me. On Wednesday & Thursday, when I asked for new garbage bags for the room Wed & Thu - there were two garbage cans in this room, one in the bathroom and one in the kitchen. I was offered a single bag because they didn't have enough to offer extras. It should be pointed out that it is only possible for staff to shine and provide the service guests can expect at a Hilton property if they have the tools to do so. Let's say - the beds were comfortable, the sheets clean and soft and the bedside lights and plugs worked, and the door to the room closed. It was a remarkable experience regarding how low the service standards were and how each request was met with reticence on behalf of the staff, knowing it would be difficult to deliver. It may be helpful to provide some context about who I am as a guest and the person I accompanied to Montreal. I travel multiple times a month on business, mostly through Western Canada and the US. Two weeks ago, I had just stayed at the Hilton in Columbus, OH., and I had a very different experience. I regularly stay in three and four-star properties while travelling for work. I know hotels can hang on to their star ratings for up to five years. I'm curious to know how this specific property achieved this rating. A terrible and costly experience in terms of service and most importantly stress. Please note this is the first negative review I have provided in over ten years. It is sincerely well earned.
Rooms are spacious but old-fashioned, in need of modernisation. Reception staff are very friendly and service is good and speedy. Jacuzzi didn't work though. Paid parking at the hotel. Location is central.
