York Regional Forest Tracts Series - Eldred King Tract which is a side trail of the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail almost 8 km of moderate forest trail We hiked in early spring and you can see early signs of spring for some plants native to the area. The trail is inside the forest and is rugged. Hiking in the fall is beautiful too as you can see the magnificent fall colours. In winter, it can serve as a photo op for your family Christmas portraits, but it is good for any season as well. The Creek makes a beautiful spot for the photo op at any angle.
very lovely in the fall. walking on a bed of leaves basically, for as far as the eye can see. there's a winding river as well. very big, wide trails and quiet. not too busy. decent sized parking lot though it's easy to miss the little entrance.
Excellent option for 1-2 hour walk during all seasons. Especially beautiful during hard snowy winter. Very quite and not really overcrowded despite its proximity to populous areas. Please keep it as pristine as it is for many generations to come.
An amazing place to feel the fresh thick air and breeze. Fall in love with the fall environment here. The silence inside the trails was so refreshing, almost felt like active meditation. A must visit place for anyone who worships nature.
Multiple trails within the tract, it is also connected to Hall tract to the south. Few hiker's or bikers on weekdays at this time of the year. There are two parking lots, a large one on 48 and a small one on McCowan. Did a loop about 7km, it was a pleasant walk.
Great place to hike. Several paths and a beautiful pond. Trees gave good shade under the sunny weather.
Nice short trail with a few other paths interconnected. Took me about 45 minutes to go around and I saw birds, chipmunks, bees, and lots of dogs on leashes! Minimal change in elevation also.
Beautiful trail with peaceful environment. Visited to see Canadian Autumn. Parking is also available.
Definitely go there to enjoy the Canadian autumn colors ! Nice trail in the forest, make sure you reach a little pond.
This trail is nice and covered with plenty of tall trees to shade you from the sun. It is a very modest trail that is perfect for a leisurely walk. Sometimes you may see horses on the trail! Watch out for their droppings as there were quite a few left throughout the trail. Some wildlife was spotted as well, including frogs, snakes and a turtle. Note that there are mosquitoes, so beware. Otherwise, great for little explorers too. I suggest going in the morning as it gets busy just before noon and the parking lot is not very big.
