Edmonton Emergency Relief Services

About

Helping our Community since 1986, and Edmonton's Only Downtown Thrift store!!

Story

The Edmonton Emergency Relief Services Society (EERSS) was first established in 1986 in response to a tragic fire. They are a small group of people dedicated to serving victims of fire and disaster by helping them with the basic supplies such as household necessities, and furniture—all this support is given at no cost to the people in need.

We are Supported in Part by the Edmonton Community Foundation. A big THANK YOU to the Edmonton Community Foundation for their generous donation to help us provide our Fire/Disaster victims with much-needed material relief.

We work hand-in-hand with the Red Cross and the Edmonton Fire Department to assist individuals and families who have been devastated with by a personal disaster..

Our on-site store sells clothing, new and second-hand furniture, all kinds of household goods and toys at very affordable prices and we are open to the public. These items are perfect for general every day use. These items can also be great for Birthdays and even Christmas. EERSS also carries brand new items donated by major store chains such as returned items and overstocked items.

The items have been donated to us from stores and the general public. The revenue from the store and other donations are used to support the services we offer to ALL communities in Alberta and other provinces.

Mission

1.) To provide emergency goods and services to victims of residential fire or disaster and to all levels of government when required.

2.) To provide goods and services to other agencies as needed.

3.) To provide information and referral services to persons in need.

4.) To operate a thrift store that accommodates poverty and low income peoples.

Wow! My first experience here has been amazing! Staff are friendly & store is well kept, tidy and organized. Prices are very reasonable. Will be coming back for sure!! Keep up the amazing work ladies
This Thrift shop has been open for awhile. It used to be called Clothes help ?? They were providing clothing and household items for the inner city. A place to find what they need when they need it. And Great prices on most goods! Because it is a true thrift shop, a feew items with trendy names are a bit pricier. It is so so worth your while to just walk in and see their kitchen set up! It's like stepping into the 50's! And the staff are very diligent and helpful! Thank you for creating a place where anyone and everyone is welcome! They've renamed it Peacock Thrift....but don't quote me on that....it has peacock and thrift in the name though!!
This place is lovely! Great finds! Great prices! Great employees! Plus they ACTUALLY give to the community and people in need. <3 Its my favorite thift shop in Edmonton thus far.

The head manager Sydney was so rude to me when I was shopping there and there was a worker following me and she was talking low about me when I was standing beside them as I was shopping in the store.very childish and unprofessional workers.worst service ever.save your money and shop at a better store and they let these refugees gouge us before our own people shop at the store.I seen it all shopping in that store and even the manager admitted to me when I was speaking to her about it.these guys don't deserve a penny and any respect at the store.I didn't even wanted to give one star.this store is being reported to the head government of canada.I can't believe I was a main customer at that store
We have picked up a lot of brand new items over the years at better than reasonable and affordable prices.
