As a recent graduate from École de Coiffure Internationale Van Horne location, I highly recommend their barbering course. First of all, the teacher Julianna is fantastic. She is very knowledgeable as she's been cutting hair for many years. Her teaching style strikes a perfect balance. She has high standards and wants your cuts to be on point. It can be daunting at times to live up to those standards but she makes sure that you have all the tools and know-how to reach them. Overall awesome teacher, couldn't be happier with her instruction. With regards to the curriculum, I think that it's well designed and structured. You come out of the course with a very solid foundation, and with the ability to do a multitude of haircuts ranging from short to long. The only gripes I have are: 1. The curriculum is a little bit dated. We didn't learn how to do many popular cuts like hard part combovers or a textured fringe for example. 2. We never really learned a proper structured fading technique i.e.: establishing guides and blending them out. We also never learned how to skin fade down to quad zero with foil shavers or how to accomplish different styles of fades ex: high, mid, low, burst, taper etc... I think that a more in-depth fading module and few updated cuts could take this school from being great to being perfect. Overall, I think that École de Coiffure Internationale has a fantastic barbering program with an equally fantastic teacher and it is well worth every penny. I highly recommend this school to anyone seeking to start a career as a barber.
I had an amazing experience at this school. All I wanted was a hairstyling course and that was available for me as a private course. I had all the help needed as possible. They are very felixable with the schedule hours that is most convenient to you. I completely advise everyone to take the course there. They are very patient and fun to work with as they teach you. I have learnt a lot in such a short amount of time. A very friendly school to be at. Marine was my teacher an she was awesome and very talented and kind.
Really They Teach, They Guide & They Serve, I will say that Great school. Fantastic teacher/ mentors. Would recommend to anyone that wants to learn about barbering or hairstyling! Coloring, Graduated and extremely happy with my new career path!. Graduate from this School serving in Montreal and whole Canada.
I was fine for the most part with the barber course, but it did seem off that the teacher did not fully tend to his students at all times. Another problem - which is now "solved" - is that we didn't actually learn anything related to barbering. And by solved, I mean they now have a barbering teacher who comes in once every week/ other week. Though my time was great over there, it wasn't because I was learning a whole lot. I personally would not recommend this place.
The teacher was very charming and relatable, likewise for student who worked on my hair.I was very pleased with my colour and cut, and all at a fraction of the cost if I went to a hair salon.Very impressed.
Would NEVER recommend this school to anyone. Steer clear and save your money. I had graduated from hairdressing from another school and enrolled in the barbering program. There's only one teacher for all the programs available. He was very unprofessional, often on his phone watching youtube videos during class time, watching shows or checking his facebook. He would even send students out to get his coffee. Since there was only one teacher he couldn’t pay attention to everyone and would ask the students to teach each other. They asked me to teach the students things completely unrelated to my program. I ended up teaching them hairdressing, colours formulas, etc. Through the entire program he didn’t show us any clipper techniques not even for a basic fade. When he tried to teach the class how to shave he ended up cutting my classmate repeatedly and making him bleed. I Iater found out he never worked as a barber to begin with. I learned all of my barbering techniques from work. The program is unstructured and the teacher doesn't follow any curriculum. The 'textbook' is just a bunch of papers they photocopied and stapled together. Extremely disappointing experience it wasn’t anything like what they advertised. EDIT: the director later stalked my work place and left a fake negative review. Thank you, that was very professional of you.
My name's Jackson, I'm a former student of Ecole International de Coiffure. I am now a barber at La Section Barbershop in downtown Montreal. I have to say that I'm very pleased with the knowledge that I took from this school! Without it, I would not be where I am today. The teacher Andrea, great guy! His experience definetly provided me with more than a stable foundation of technique to build upon. Always there when you ask and always pushes you to do your best. He can also tell one heck of a story! Otto, the director, again another great guy. Very friendly and able to provide you with any Information on anything you may need. All in all my experience at this school was very good. I'm extremely thankful for everything I've learned here and would definitely recommend this school to anybody looking to become a barber/stylist!
After finishing the hairdressing course this school has taught me more than just the base of hairdressing! It taught me patience, perseverance, to trust my own instinct and more than anything that you can do anything you set your mind to! Thank you so much to Jean, Annie, Alisha, Otto and all the friends for the experiences and opportunities!!
I had graduated from here, and I am currently working in downtown montreal and Ottawa. The school taught me all the necessary skills and techniques to become the best barber. Then, the work in on you. Great environment, friendly techers and staff, and best of all Dr. Andrea's jokes.
great school. Fantastic teacher/ mentors. Would recommend to anyone that wants to learn about barbering or hairstyling! Graduated and extremely happy with my new career path!
