Eastern Michigan University, located in Ypsilanti, Michigan, enrolls more than 23,000 students. We are located about 30 miles west of Detroit and just outside of Ann Arbor (by 8 miles).

Graduated from EMU last year. It's a decent university with a beatiful campus. Tuitions is way more affordable than many other schools. Staff at all levels were very friendly. It took me literally less two weeks to get apply for financial aid, get registered, and start my classes. However, before you decide to apply you must study the program you're interested in. Some programs have very little resources, and they fail big time to be up to date with technology and industry standards. I came here as a transfer student, and I was lucky that I took most of my hands-on courses at my community college. I learned from fellow students, who were in the same program at EMU, how disappointed they are because of the lack of resources and education quality.

This college is more focused on money and appearance than they are academia. Also, transferring students are not given clear direction. The military are looked down upon by other students and extremist groups (BLM, Feminists, etc.) are given the limelight any time they wish. I have received numerous emails about how the black community deserves better representation as well as better education. Not one word about military scholars who are working full time, supporting a family, attending 12+ credit hours per semester and still maintaining Dean's list grades. The priorities of EMU are way off course. They claim to have diversity among students, which they do have, but having diversity does not mean providing equality throughout.

This is for the financial aid department I called to see if I needed an appointment and they said they don't take appointments they said just to come in. So I took the morning off of work drove 1.5 hours to the campus and was told they can not do anything without me filing for FASFA, Seriously! INFORMATION I NEEDED BEFORE I took off work and then drove all the way down here for nothing!!!!!!!! They need to get it together down there!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOOOOO TICKED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

You'll get from your education the effort you put into it. Ypsilanti is a great town.

I had an excellent experience academically. I spent most of my time at the College of Business. Also, the majority of professors I encountered were passionate and engaging. The only complaint I have, is regarding parking. They increased the price of parking passes significantly but didn't increase the amount of parking spaces. Depending on the time of your classes you just might pay for a parking pass you can't use.
