Story

At Hastings and Nanaimo in the bowels of East Vancouver, East Vanity parlour is most famous for our vintage updos, classic sets and old school styles.

Though the days here are packed with friends and clients maintaining their cuts and couture colors, it often gets bombarded by a frenzy of burlesque-inspired beauties primping and prepping for the evening.

On the weekends we have legendary make up artists on-call for special events and weddings! We cater to ladies and gents from the age of 4 (sometimes younger) to the age 65 (often older.)

We’re not going to judge you if you come in and need us to fix your drunken kitchen cut from the night before, that’s what we’re here for and we’ve all been there.

Loved this place. Kate was extremely friendly and did a great job with my haircut. The place has a great vintage vibe. Prices are great in my opinion, especially for a place in Vancouver.

I have been getting my hair cut by Bailey at East Vanity Parlour since December 2021. The experience at East Vanity Parlour and my time with Bailey has been nothing short of amazing. Those who work at and run the salon have cultivated such a safe and fun space. I have appreciated getting to know Bailey through several haircuts. She is always incredibly supportive, informative, and caring with her approach to cutting my hair. Bailey has made me comfortable exploring my boundaries with my hair as she takes things one step at a time, starting an appointment with very small changes and consistently asking for consent to continue throughout the process. If you want a rad cut or an amazing colour job, you can't go wrong with Bailey or the other folks at East Vanity Parlour!

I had my hair cut by Jill a couple days ago and had a lovely experience. She was so sweet and funny, it honestly felt like hanging out with a friend for an hour. She also did a great job on my hair— I’m always trepidatious about getting my hair cut because it is curly and a lot of hairdressers don’t really know how to cut curly hair for some reason, but Jill was very knowledgeable and worked deftly with my natural hair texture to make it shine. She cut my bangs exactly the way they looked in the photo reference I showed her and helped to give the rest of my hair some shape that I didn’t even know I needed. I have nothing but good things to say about her and would go back to her in a heartbeat!  As far as the salon itself, the atmosphere is very vibrant and welcoming, with lots of colourful decor and a general vibe of positivity amongst the staff.  If you are booking online and are not sure how much time to book, it’s a good idea to call and ask. For reference, I have fairly fine, dense shoulder-length curly hair and bangs that had mostly grown out. I booked a 60 minute appointment to get a trim and have my bangs reshaped.

I've always had a good experience here. Lately I've been seeing Bailey and she's been so lovely. She has a great memory for what we talk about, both for my hair as well as just every day talk. She was also great for the day I came in with a migraine and just needed a quick and quiet trim.  I wish I didn't have to book so far in advance, but I'm in the habit of it now. And besides, she's clearly worth it!

I made a last minute booking for a hair cut here because it was close to my hotel and I'm so glad I did! Konstantin is awesome! Super friendly and knowledgeable about hair, good luck settling in to Vancouver :

I followed my stylist here from high Fidelity when it closed. The place albeit nice, comfortable and efficient is very different and not really geared toward me. The stylist is awesome enough it doesn't matter.

I came in for a 1/2hr colour the other day it was a pretty simple dye job as it was just one colour all over, nothing fancy...no cut, no style just dye.  My booking stated 1/2hr along with a price associated with that service.........but yet I left paying an additional $30 dollars on top of my 1/2 hr colour charge in hidden fees that I was not told about.  I was charged for a 15 min add-on cut, a chemical overage fee and an eco fee! I have short hair,  I was in and out in 30 mins, not 45! When I asked about this they said it's the time it takes to finish and get you out the door...but I didn't require any "finishing" and was out the door in 30 min. It made no sense.  I even requested not to have my hair dried because I was in a rush so I left with damp hair because I needed to be in and out within that time frame but somehow they decided to charge me these extra fees. I have never had this experience at any other salon before.  When you go in for a service you pay for that specific service, why was I charged for a chemical fee, eco fee and an additional 15 min cut fee?? this is ludicrous. The stylist was great but the owner needs to rethink her pricing model.  Because of this experience I will never go back again and I will not recommend this place. Horrible place gave me a horrible haircut for 75$. Seriously better off staying home and using dollar store scissors. Why did you guy's butcher me? Was in July. Asked for a refund and they said I can come back in and they will 'fix it'. They cut too much hair and stay away if you are amab! They will butcher you on purpose.Service:&nbsp;Hairstyling
