UPDATE May 23, 2021 - ordered Italian Wedding Soup and initially shocked by the price and size of the soup bowl but it's my favourite soup so I figured it would be worth it. No spoons or knife to cut the bread/spread the butter so we had to drive home to eat it. Pasta was off colour and mush, broth was dark and salty and the meatballs melted in your mouth instantly was inedible except the bread. I swear they used can soup, nothing even close to how it normally was. Food was great however waitress and manager ruined the experience for our mother and son date night when they refused to honor the $2 Tuesday kids meal deal. Monthly tradition that we've had the last year when we visit Alliston for the movie theatre but looking into a new place to try now.
Let me start first by saying East Side Mario's is one of my all time favorite chain resteraunts. How ever, this particular establishment is nothing short of absolutely disapointing. After an incident 2 years ago where my 4 year old son received a pizza that was still frozen in the center after waiting over an hour and 15 minutes, when we brought it up we were verbally accosted by the manager. I swore I wouldnt return. Tonight we happened to be in the area once again and my kids BEGGED to go to east sides. We were seated quickly, our waitress was polite but extremely disorganized. We placed our orders, upon receiving our soup and salad we realized that we had no cutlery at the table, our waitress was unavailable until we were all done our bread soup and managed to eat the salad with the tongs. That's alright we made due. Then we received our meals, I'll start by saying that the food was at least cooked properly. How ever both of our dishes were missing key ingredients listed directly in the title of the dish. My wife ordered pesto prosciutto pasta, the entire bowl of past had a single flake of proscuito about a half inch square, when we told the waitress we were told that it must be at the bottom and she turned her back on us and ignored us when we told her that we dug through the entire plate and their was in fact none. I ordered the peppercorn mushroom alfredo. I received 2 slices of mushrooms in my entire dish. Due to my previous experiences at this establishment we were essentially scared to ask to tell the manager about our disappointment.
Our service was lovely and food was fresh and tasty. The mixed drink menu is lacking and our dessert was old and stale. We had the peanut butter stack- the chocolate cake was as crunchy as the peanuts on top. Still giving a 4 because the menu is not decided by this individual restaurant and overall we had a nice dinner.
Was good but not like I remember. Not very busy for a summer Friday night. The waitress was very nice but the food was only average
Service was amazing. The wedding soup and garden salad was all you can eat. Both very good. Had the chicken parmigiana with penne. It hit the spot. Sauce was a bit acidic but good over all. Will definitely go back. Wed its all you can eat pasta, bread, salad and soup. $12.99. Where can you do better than that?
The main course was good we had the chicken Parm . The salads we had though had that rusty look and tasted old. Our server was slow, she had a good personality. She was just very slow. In all I wouldn't say it was a bad visit, more like it started out disappointing. Then the main course helped us feel better about the experience and we left feeling not pleasntly surprised but relieved the whole meal wasn't bad. Our server gave is cold containers for hot food to go home with which melted on the way home. So yeah......
The server was great. She handled our table very well all things considered. The manager/ owner that sat us, was off put when he seen a Toronto area code. And phone number. Which made for a rocky start. My hubby ordered a draft beer that tasted old and stale. The meat balls I was served were small freezer burnt. They were black on the outside and bright brown in the centre. The texture was unlike any meat or meat ball I've ever encountered. The sauce and Caesar salad were the saving grace for the meal.
Always usually consistent with taste. However Chicken Parmigiana was a little over cooked this time and portion size was alot smaller then the month before. Service was great!
Do not recommend anyone waste their time or money. The booth seat cushions were peeling off and unconfortable. I ordered a salad the waitress said there was no more lettuce and she could not make me a salad. I asked for a refill on my drink 3 times before I got one. They served me the wrong order and said oh sorry about that we'll make you a new one. I had to wait again for my order while my wife's went cold. When they served me a second time it wasn't tasty and there was chunks of bacon fat in my pasta even though there was not supposed to be bacon in it. I could not finish my meal. The place is really dirty and run down the washrooms and food are gross. The cooks don't know how to cook and the waitresses take the wrong order.
