Dynamic Earth has a lot of really cool and fun things that you can do! You can do an underground tour of a mine, you can pan for gold, you can take a video tour of the nickel smelting process, and they have movies throughout the day. When I was there, I did the underground tour. It isn't as deep as a regular mine for safety reasons but it is still pretty deep 70 feet. It was a fun experience, although it was really wet and humid, seeing it's underground. I highly recommend the tour though! You go through three centuries of mining history and get the tools and machinery used for mining during those three centuries. However I do warn people who are sensitive to flashing lights that they probably should be careful when doing the underground tour.
Underground tour was fun for the kids. They loved going down the mine shaft and experiencing the "dynamite". Different hands-activities and exhibits to explore throughout the two levels, including panning for gold - we found small flecks which we got to bring home on a souvenir card. Had a small eating area and would recommend bringing your own food if you want anything other than pepperoni pizza, chicken noodle soup, or chili for lunch. Kids loved the outdoor playground and spent a good while there. Staff was very friendly and helpful and were more than happy to answer any questions. Great experience!
That was a very pleasant surprise ! Great underground tour, good and knowledgeable guide. Not a tourist trap for sure. Not too expensive and you will learn a lot. Highly recommended. There is some confusion on their website, the mine tout is located where the Big Nickel is. Enjoy!
We joined the walk tour. Jayden our tour guide was very good. We really enjoy it very much. The admission was 25$ we didn't see the shows in the theatres. We only did the walk tour. We loved it. Of course we took picture of the big nickle it was another highlight. Must visitVisited onWeekdayWait time30–60 minReservation recommendedNo
Our five year old loved going into the mine and being part of some of the activities that they did in mines. The guide allowed him to hold a lock ax, push dynamite into holes before blasting in the rock and he discovered the strange smell that allowed us to get to safety. It was an amazing learning experience to know how mines worked in the past and how they work today. The activities and play areas for the kids are also great fun.
Amazing structure and one of the coolest place to visit in Sudbury. We reached there when the main building was closed, however, we enjoyed the park area and the mint is amazingly huge. Enjoyed a lot there with different photography angles.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo

It's a great facility to showcase the mining history, techniques and any knowledge pertaining to the mining industry to young and old. The underground mine tour is great as the guide did a good job explaining mining in different eras of history. There is the outdoor playground as well as indoor for children. A must visit site in Sudbury.
Super fun! Halloween pumpkins were amazing and all the staff were so nice! We tried dried crickets for free as well! Very cool and great for kids as well. There was a very engaging story teller at the campfire reading to the kids with the best voices and everyone I saw was smiling so big. A fantastic experience
Such an informative tour! It really gives an idea of how mining has changed over the last century, and the conditions miners had to work in. It was also really cool to see how far we've come along in terms of technology. And props to Hannah, she was our tour guide. She was so awesome!!
