Very good breakfast for the money. We arrived early and we were greeted by a very friendly server. Our waitress was also very friendly. Eggs Beni was very good, as was the Diner special. But you need to skip both and head right to the pancakes. They are spectacular! We will definitely be returning. Kid-friendliness: High chairs available Parking: Parking right out front. Wheelchair accessibility: Automatic doors and on one floor
We had an amazing breakfast yesterday with Fantastic food and Fantastic service! Highly recommend! Great atmosphere, super fast and delicious! They’ve expanded their restaurant and the new space looks awesome!! Definitely a must try! We had Spicy Hash, The DSD eggs Benny bacon grilled cheese under there!, Bangers ‘n’ hash and a western omelette!
Wow! Incredible food, extensive creative menu and great service! A casual dining experience with one of a kind brunch dishes set in a vintage and historical building. I can’t say enough about the waitstaff - attentive and friendly. Enjoy!
Had brunch here on a Sunday and we were able to get a table right away. Staff was super friendly and nice and we got our food at a reasonable time. Food was AMAZING! Hubby got the special that day picture below and I got the Little Italy eggs benny forgot to take a pic. Coffee was refillable and was a very good dark roast. We parked on the streets which wasn’t too bad. Highly recommend if you’re in the area! Can’t wait to be back when we visit Barrie
If you have not been to the Dunlop Street Diner for breakfast then you are missing out on a fantastic dining experience. We had the DSD which is a bacon grilled cheese sandwich topped with hollandaise and chives and served with home fries, California Omlette aged white cheddar, cherry tomatoes topped with avocado salsa and served with home fries and baked beans, Chocolate Chip Pancakes and the Vegetarian Omlette red chillies, onions, tomatoes, spinach and mushrooms and served with breakfast poutine. The food was excellent and combined with very friendly staff and a wonderful decorated restaurant with a very rustic look. We will be back soon!!
This place has a really great atmosphere. The breakfast my partner got he really enjoyed. However I do not recommend the "Bangers and Hash"; the idea is great but the execution of this dish falls short. The fruit salad was okay but the fruit was far from ripe. The dish itself ends up being a greasy mess. Frozen Hashbrown patties fried topped with fried sausage and greasy sautéed mushrooms and onions, topped with cheap cheese and poached eggs. I got my hollandaise on the side, however I didn't touch it as it was cold. I mentioned to the waitress about the meal falling short of expectations, she asked if I wanted another plate however still charged us for the food I didn't eat. Being in the industry for 15+ years I was very disappointed in the overall experience. This place has great potential and a great location but the food could be much better. Over $50 for 2 breakfasts and a Caesar is way over priced.
Hey Google. Best breakfast near me. And my life was changed!! Dunlop Street Dîner in Barrie is an oasis of good food and great service on the bleak road between Toronto and North Bay. Housed in a historical building, the brick walls and hardwood floors are very inviting and warm, with historical pictures and ironwork throughout. The extensive menu has everything from traditional to upscale, plated and cooked perfectly. Lori the waitress told me I must order the hashbrowns with my eggs, all done with a raised eyebrow of "trust me", and oh boy, the best I've had. A blend of potatoes of all sizes, they were fried and salted to perfection, none over or undercooked. The experience was made all the better with homemade jam, fresh squeezed orange juice and a true coffee bar serving coffees to lattes. This is now marked "favorite" on my road trips north as a must stop. Add photos
This place has been a hit for a while now, so today we decided it was finally time to go. DELICIOUS. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and my daughter had the pancakes with berries. Both were SO delicious, beautifully plated and happily served. No surprise that this is the sister restaurant to Donaleighs... Food quality to match. Superb!
This might be the best breakfast place in Barrie. They have an extensive list of very creative Benedicts. I recommend the phylo brie Benedict! They also have a great variety of daily soups. I had a cheddar beer and jalapeno soup that was a delightful a addition to the meal.
Ordered fries and they came soggy and dirty ? asked for a refresh, same thing. Hollandaise was good, seemed to be house made. Disappointed in regards of the amount of potatoes in the 3 dishes we ordered but the toppings were just a few/little. It's almost like the dish was potatoes with side something. Big portions tho. Not sure if I'd come back, not interested in going to a restaurant to eat fries, home fries or whatever with something, it's usually the other way around.
