This is a really lovely place within Sandbanks Provincial Park !! We did the Dunes Trail twice. The first time we did it with the Park Ranger and it was really interesting to learn about the history of the area and the different plants and ecosystems that contribute to the Dunes at Sandbanks. There are some huge Dunes you can check out ! Highly recommend adding this to your bucket list. You could definitely have a lovely picnic here as well. It wasn't overly busy around 10am but seemed to get a bit busier by 12pm.
Amazing natural sand dunes with the softest, most beautiful type of sand. The dunes are huge and go for kilometers. The views are spectacular. There are restrooms, playground, picnic tables. The parking is paid and reserved in advance. A must see place in Canada. Please, keep it clean!
Really lovely here and a unique place for a beach day. The dunes are steep so you'll need to arrive early to find a decent spot. Also, the water line drops fairly absuptly about 40 feet out so there isn't much of a shallow play area. In general, really nice.
The Dunes Beach area is our favourite for Sandbanks, there's lots of room to walk to, it's a lot more secluded. It's very clean, there's washrooms, boardwalks, tall dunes, swimming area, and more. The parking lot is relatively close, but sometimes fills up quick.
Make sure you pick up a permit first for parking. Small beach area that then extends out onto the dunes. We visited on a weekday and the cafe/shop was closed which was a shame as they would have had good trade quite busy at the carpark area. Toilets were open.
Very nice beach on Lake Ontario. Calm and pleasant atmosphere. Fine white sand. There are bathrooms and showers.
Soft, fine sand unlike any other in Ontario that I've seen. Clean rolling dunes/hills of sand Parking can be steep though. Make sure to reserve ahead of time and come with a large party to split parking pass cost.
Fantastic place to camp! So many different parks and beaches to go to, shown is a photo of the dunes which is just a short shaded walk from the parking lot or 15 minutes from the nearest camp site. There is a restaurant by the dunes serving all chip truck style menu along with Ice-cream etc. They allowed us to park our trailer after we checked out of our camp site to go for a swim. Very accommodating and friendly. 15 drive to the charming village great for foodies, along with metro to pick up anything you’ve forgotten about. Also very close to many other things to do in the area, wine tours, craft beer, wakeboard lessons the float park where they also offer pontoon rentals as well! Definitely one of the best camp sites because of the location.
Didn't know about outlet beach until after the dunes were nice but the beach area was very weedy after you got out a few feet in some areas.
Been coming here since I was a kid. Awesome place for the whole family. Lots of walking along the beach and up the hills of sand. Even more fun on the way down! A nice playground for the kids. Gorgeous scenic views of the outlet river. Swimming is fun but be aware of the sudden drop off. Dangerous for inexperienced swimmers/children. Large parking lot. Public flush washrooms. Small food/snack bar opening early June. Picnic shelters with picnic tables.
