Horrible school, teachers were mean and unavailable to teach property. My sister and I were in this school for 2 months and we decided to leave because of how horrible the teachers were treating me. My sister was doing well being in kindergarten at the time. Our first language is English, we went to Duke Of Cambridge to learn how to speak French for our family. One of the experiences was when I was struggling because I couldn't understand the French. They assigned me a staff member to help me. The first day she was introduced to me she walked me to the garbage and forced me to throw out the only pencil I had, which she knew, and then proceeded to ask me where my pencil was. So I said that it was in the garbage bit, then she asked me if I had another pencil but of course I didn't. There was also a lot of bullying and misbehaving in class and for reassess. There was an older girl who would attempted to trip the younger kids and call us names. She took my stuff and threw them into a stream near by the yard. Which caused me to fight back eventually. The school also has no air-conditioning except for in the library. It was really hot during the summer. The schools bus situation is also very stupid.
This school is awesome!!! I love it so so very much and the teachers are kind and Teach the students me well! I have T1D Type 1 diabetes and all the amazing teachers including the staff and the Principles help me!! I rate this 5/5 such an amazing school!!
Every year it manages to get worse more then half the “school” isn’t even inside the school they are stuck outside in the portables. By the way this school is run by a bunch of omnipotent power trippers who see themselves as gods amongst idiots. Covid has caused this entire school to metaphorically belly flop into a volcano, some busses make two trips now but one is an hour later. we are in a constant paranoia of returning to online learning and it shows in the teaching. Just simply put bad school
We moved out of area so my son was only able to attend Duke for one year but we really miss it. We did have issues with his teacher at times but the school itself was fantastic. Annual programs, like the Christmas dinner at the legion hall, and the kindergarten holiday sing a long, as opposed to a concert, were fantastic ideas and sorely missed. The school had a great sense of community.
I am a school bus driver who takes students to the Duke everyday. I have to admit I am sadden. This week as we approach Remembrance Day I noticed that no teacher, including the principal and VP are wearing poppies. How are our children suppose to learn to respect their freedom. I know there is a service at school this Friday and a support out troops on Wed might but a poppy is a quiet, silent reminder that we care, we remember. I have a photo of my father, a WW2 Vet, on my bus. Children ask about him and learn about the sacrifice of a 20 yr old man for their freedom. We respect, we remember. Children in Holland are assigned the grave of a fallen soldier to care for and remember their sacrifice for their freedom. Is a poppy worn by staff too much to ask to help educate our youth. John
I had the most horrible exprexpress in this school. The teachers are mentally unstable and took it out on students, the school is way under supplied and does not care about your well being, it says it has a no tolerance policy but this is a lie i have watched others myself included being bullied for their religion, sexual orientation gender or general likes and dislikes even what they wear. I honestly wanted to die and some days couldn't get out of bed, even my grade 8 teacher made crule remarks about me to the other students if i was late to class. On top of all this you never learn a lick of french they practically stop teaching it after grade 4 If you want your child to be successful and not end up feeling anxious or depressed ect or actually learn something while also having the proper equipment to do so dont send your child here.
This school has been an amazing support to my eldest boy in all aspects of his growth. While not every teacher clicked with him, he was always supported by the Cert, vp, and principal. Front desk staff deal with a lot daily and my children never made that easy for hem either so kudos to them. My eldest is moving on next year and my little one will carry on his legacy i am sure but i look forward to working with all the supoortive staff of this amazing school. We thank you deeply...keep doing what you do!!!
