The worst croissant I’ve ever had. Cold, sour mix of flavors, and even a basic homemade one would taste better. Worst of all, it tasted off—like something sat in the fridge for a month before ending up in my croissant. Sorry guys, but that's not why I come to a bakery.nnAnd no service once you're seated. I started eating my croissant, and suddenly, they called me to pick up my London Fog from across the room.nnGiving stars only for the beautiful interior!
A good girlfriend recommended this place, and I'm so glad she did! O M G, my mom said the macarons were better than the ones she had in France. I've had some great macarons in my life and I've had some really bad macarons...these were outstanding. And gluten free #blessed. Don't underestimate the vanilla! Soooo good. I can't wait to go back.
Have been buying pastries here for many years, Duchess never disappoints. We usually order online and pick up avoid lineups. Having heart shaped macaron gateau for Valentine’s is a tradition now.
Oh Duchess, I’m like a kid in a candy store every time I stop by. I basically black out, and spend way too much because it’s so hard not to get one of almost everything.nnThe macarons are the best! And I’m so happy they brought back their quiche! We have the Duchess cook books, but it one of those things where it’s duplicated but never replicated.nnDecor and ambience is great. It’s like a little Parisian escape in the heart of Edmonton.
At some point the Duchess was rated in the top 100 bakeries in the world, and it’s not hard to see why. With every bite you can tell how meticulously handcrafted everything is, from the quality of ingredients to the presentation. They blow me away with their new creations like a banana cream salted caramel chocolate pie that I want to be served on my deathbed to their tried and true classics the sour cherry pie is a must have. As someone who has travelled around Paris eating every macaron in sight, the macaroons from the duchess are second best I’ve ever had, losing only to l’adurée, the original creator of macaroons. The coffee and tea here is also not to be missed, as well as the homemade soups. Bon appétit!
