I had a lovely time here. If you love to know about the history of old buildings and places, you must visit this village. My kids loved it. They also have activity tables for kids where they can make art and crafts.
i visited the village earlier with my family and we had a blast! it was so interesting to be able to see what the people of the past used to live like! the guides were all very informative and were more than willing to answer any questions they were asked
Been here a few times as a kid, the experience was roughly the same as I remember - which isn’t a bad thing. All the staff were friendly and the new museum building is fun to tour through although for myself, the highlight is definitely the village. With that said however a lot of buildings were closed, it would be convenient to know which were open that day, or have signs posted out front instead of being slightly unsure. I think it was a staffing issue as I only saw maybe 4 in costume walking the village. It is a smaller village so more access to the buildings I feel is essential. What was open was great and I loved “stepping back” into history.
Highly recommend. Very friendly & Knowledgeable Staff. Bought a membership which was only around 40$ for the year. Have since gone twice and still want to go back again. Lots too see including some demonstrations.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Cute little pioneer village with several homes, stores, and museum staff dressed in costumes.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
So good to do the lantern tour, missed being inside the homes, enjoyed the interaction with interpreters outside & apple cider & shortbread cookie
An inexpensive AND very informative & complete in my opinion display of the early times / growth / development of the Berlin /Kitchener-Doon-Waterloo region. I’ve grown up here, 50+ years of living in the region. I still learned so much. Perfect for families - a few animals for kids to see - and really well run. Staff are stationed through-out the village & museum, dressed in period costume. They give demonstrations eg smithing & metal works … and they talk with you as if you’ve come to the village for supplies eg. shopping from a nearby farm in need of a tailor or maybe new linens. Lots of fun … a full afternoon is needed for an idea of the region’s history. Or spend a full day to see it all. Restaurant & bathrooms etc. are fair priced & clean. I would go again re: take friends that my be visiting. Gift-shop on site.
I’ve loved this place since I was a kid. Since moving out of Kitchener, I’ve brought friends and now my own children here multiple times. It’s really a gem!
The staff are very friendly, so many good things to see here and everything is so well-planned. A good place to bring kids.
We went here with a registered covid walk around, they had booths set up with information and fun stuff. All buildings were closed which wasnt great, I doubt it would have made a difference with so few people anyways. Our girst time here was terrible, people out of character complaining and gripping about wanting to go home, using bad language - we took a chance coming back here and they werent in costume which was disappointing but at least they were trying whjch is better than nothing. Hoping for a better day in the future. Doon a Has nothing on Westfield Heritage Village but at least Doon is open, Westfield isnt
