Great place to grab a coffee and baked goods. I come here regularly and always enjoy what they're serving. I often get their iced coffees. If you like it sweet, then you'll enjoy it here as well. You need to come here in the morning if you want any of the donuts or other baked goods. By afternoon you won't find much. The prices are as expected for a mom and pop shop, but the other day they charged me 70 cents for ice in a cup. Apart from that, I love Donut Counter and always try to stop by if I'm in the area.
They're like the old school donuts we used to get from donut shops as a kid, minus the cigarette stink. I think they make them fresh there. None of that Tim Hortons garbage. I went again after all these years and the service is really nice there and the staff are nice. Got 6 donuts. Boston Cream: pretty good. Appears to be actual cream, pretty fluffy, not too sweet, just right vanilla dip sprinkle: what you would expect. Fluffy and sweet crueller: it's really fluffy but it's not sweet enough, tastes rather eggy. I would pass on this one. Texture also isn't great Chocolate donut: not sweet enough but texture good Plain dipped: fluffy but not sweet enough Lemon filled: a bit sour for my taste. Could be sweeter Was about $8 for a half dozen
It's okay, a little dated, but there's always people at this very local coffee shop. Doughnuts are a little dry and not very sweet, so probably more healthy than at other places, I guess it depends on your preferences. Prices are good, similar to Tim's, service was okay. Sufficient seating indoors, plenty of parking on the plaza.
The food is fresh and made in front of you. The coffee was very nice. The owner/server was a sweet lady, greeted us with a smile. The prices are decent. Indoor seating was available.
I went to the Donut Counter to pick up, well, Donuts! The place is rather small with limited seating inside and outside. Both of my journeys to this place has observed that the seating capacity is normally full. The place is also under high demand so if one comes towards the end of the day, it may not be possible to find a variety of donuts. So better come early! The donuts themselves are affordable, at a dollar each. There are a great variety if you come before the rush towards the day's end their taste is acceptable.
It's just another small donut and sandwich shop but the staff is the difference. They're friendly and pleasant making it nicer for lunch than the Harvey's next to it.
Pros: Cozy mom and pop atmosphere Friendly service Cons: Little wait time when busy I've been coming here for a quick breakfast before work a couple of days a week for the last 3 weeks. Donut Counter is the definition of mom and pop place if you ask me. They know you by name and the atmosphere is always friendly. I don't know when they open but they do start pretty early. I get here by about 545am and they're already open. They know most of their customers by name and order if you're a regular. It's seems to be a rotation of 2 or 3 ladies in the morning but they know each customer personally. It's a very friendly coffee shop. I love the cozy nature of this place. As there is only one person working, it can take some time for them to process your order when it's busy. There was a day where there was about 4 other customers not including me. The lady was all by herself and even though you knew she was going her fastest, there was a back log happening. It's totally not her fault and it's just not feasible to have more than one person on for a place like this so I understand. It's something you should be prepared for if the situation arises. I am a fan of this place. If they had some hot breakfast foods on the menu it would be a 5 for me. Still, I know I will be frequenting this place many times during my commutes to work in the future.
Very friendly place, they seem to remember my family and I since we come to this shop regularly. A somewhat quiet place with good internet connection, but the shop tends to close quite early.
Good service. Fast. Good selection of pre made sandwiches. Big classic donuts.. nice bagels. Overall a very nice experience. This has been here for atleast 25 years. Nice covered patio set up during summer months
Love the doughnuts.... LOVE them. Especially the walnut/choco crunch and chocolate toasted coconut. My two favourite types since I was a kid, and two types that big chain hasn't made in far too many years. Plus, these are real sized treats. Well worth the trip.
