We bake hundreds of items fresh daily to stock our shelves; the most famous being the original Don's Scones (pronounced skons). Other top selling items include the delicious Chelsea buns, Cinnamon buns, Butter Tarts, Pies and Cookies.

Story

Since 1947, Don's Bakery, in the heart of Muskoka, is a sweet and tasty tradition for many local and seasonal residents of the area. Located at Portage Landing, nestled upon the Bala Falls between the Moon River and Lake Muskoka, Don's is one of the only scratch bakeries left.

Always enjoyed this business for its pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, and historically delicious baked goods and donuts. Can't beat the small town ambiance either.nAs of June 2024, the business appears to have been downsized in terms of product offerings... however I have been informed that if you arrive closer to the opening time, the store's shelves should be full. Somewhat pricey for what you get IMO... but hey they do most of their business in the summer months.
We had the pleasure of trying Don's Bakery Muskoka Kaiser Buns from our local Food Basics in St. Thomas....and they were the best Kaiser's we every tried, soft, fresh, great quality and great pricing. They freeze very well, and are as fresh as the day we bought them upon defrosting. We use online grocery ordering, so buying something like buns is like walking through a mine field, you cannot squeeze the package to check for freshness or quality. We have ordered kaiser's from other stores in our town, and they were terrible. Some of them were so hard and inedible, they could have been used for hockey pucks at the local arena....we plan to try the onion hamburger buns and scones with our next order....hoping our store manager brings in more of Don's products other than buns...they are amazing and priced right.
Better make sure you get there early. They sell out by 10. And I can see why. Apple fritter is truly a work of art. Every bite was unique in its own way. Strawberry rhubarb pie was delightful and made for a perfect cottage breakfast with my coffee. Can't wait to come back.nP.S. docking the boat was simple and a short walk.
This bakery is top-notch! They have a wide variety of delicious items at great prices. You have to try their Muskoka-inspired treats!
The apple fritter is the most amazing donut I've ever tasted! I absolutely recommend going to try it. Prices are also reasonable.
