My absolute favorite restaurant in Hartford. An unassuming hidden treasure, its enticing aromas luring you in from blocks away. The food is both bold and subtle, hearty and with invigorating spice. Favorite items are the Lamb Pepper Masala, Dal Soup, and their Samosas; but anything on the menu is a great choice. The hospitality and warmth one is greeted with is as fulfilling as the meals. Dhaba Wala is a must visit for anyone looking for Indian cuisine, or for delicious food in general.
Don't underestimate this small restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the Indian food was. My dad has been to many and expressed that this was his favorite. Portions were large and the food was excellent. The person at the register was very helpful in helping us order. Vegetarian options: There are many vegetarian options, vegetable samosas, kauai paneer and aloo Gobi were amazing. So tasty and at medium heat, they were perfect.
Great spot for Indian snacks, lunch, and supper; they know what they're doing, and the quality is constant and fine-tuned to your preferences. It's become a regular for me. Keep up the excellent work Kailash.
Food was immaculate! Very flavorful and tender. The Chicken biryani was awesome. Would recommend anyone to try this place out.
Delicious. Very good customer service. Gentlemen at the front desk gave my 2 year old free cookies, twice : Family-like atmosphere. Everything was excellent. We waited less than 10 mins for our meal.
Healthy and fulfilling food for the part-time vegetarian. Being in the downtown area has been challenging to find the right foods to eat on a stringent diet, but I found an ally in Dhaba Wala Indian Kitchen. I chose the Aloo Gobi Entree and requested to have little or no salt, which was the perfect comfort food I needed after a stressful morning. The staff was polite, knowledgeable, and welcoming to my needs as a new customer.
The pictures might not look too good, but Indian food is not really about the looks, isn’t it? Probably one of the best places to have some really well made Indian cousin. They even had different deserts and homemade drinks. Portions were pretty significant and very flavorful. And if you ask, they can adjust the level of spiciness !
Super delicious Indian restaurant in an unsuspecting location. I got the Aloo Mutter and Roti, which are both vegan. The menu calls out vegan and gluten free options which makes choosing dishes quick and easy. The roti was delicious and the serving size was very generous. The Aloo Mutter came out piping hot, the spice level was a little less than I expected but it’s better to err on the mild side at a new place. The dish was full of flavors, the potato cooked to perfection. I was only in town for a few days but this would be on my frequent rotation if I lived close! Pro tip: there is limited indoor seating so don’t count on sitting inside with more than a couple others.
We loooove Dhaba Wala! Every time I start with vegetable pakora. Crispy, tasty, delicious with coriander chutney. The chicken tikka masala is the best I’ve had, even including my trip to South India. The kheer is comfort food for dessert. The staff is always kind. Highly recommend!!! Vegetarian options: Excellent, tasty vegetarian options full of flavor.
The owner is a great person. Food was great and nice dining area. My parents loved this place. We will definitely go back there, once we go to Hartford again. And yes you will enjoy as well!
