Really good donuts and apple fritters. Their jelly donuts are excellent but I wish they put a bit more filling in them. The glazed donuts are excellent fresh in the morning but fall off a few hours after they are made, the glaze thins out and gets soaked in the donut and gets soggy. Their bread is also very very good. Very well priced.
If you buy the last apple fritter, other customers may follow you to your car. They're that good. Not too sweet, actual apple.
I can only advise on the apple fritters. I've had bigger. I've had sweeter. I've had more expensive. For me, Delta Bakery's are perfect. A great 'crust', a simple glaze that doesn't melt in your hands, cinnamon throughout, and the perfect size. I would even go so far to say this is even better than the gourmet donut shops I've had fritters from. Sometimes simple is best. You can call and ask to keep them aside, as they sell out quickly. So call in the morning or go early.
Best Apple Fritters place in the lower mainland. Their Apple Fritter will blow your mind. Get there early in the morning, they sold out pretty quick.
The owner and staff are grumpy and treat you like they are doing you.a favor. Won't ever go there again
Been here a few times now and had a different experience each time. The owner older lady with glasses made us feel very uncomfortable. She just doesn't seem happy to help us and doesn't smile. But putting that aside we made a purchase to support local. The other times a younger lady helped us and was very cheerful! We loved her customer service! Unfortunately the apple fritter was great a few times but the last 2 times it was very oily. I don't know if they let it sit in old oil but made us feel very gross afterwards. Their long John was our favorite. The donut with the raspberry/strawberry jelly was also very oily and didnt have enough jelly.
Great long time local bakery with good variety of items
Great apple fritters! You can ask them to put one aside for you if you never seem to get there in time, but they aren’t as good when they are fresh and still warm out of the oven. I found the Saturday morning ones are fantastic, even if you have to sacrifice a bit of a lie-in to go and get them. The rye bread is also very good and very dense. I also find that it lasts quite some time without getting moldy. I’ve had mine a week without losing any of it.
Bought and tasted the glazed, strawberry filled and apple fritter. Totally disappointed, wasted my sugar quota. I tried the glazed first and I can honestly say that Krispy Kreme was 100% better. The strawberry filled doughnut was disgusting. The filling did not taste anything remotely close to strawberry. Save yourself some money and get smuckers strawberry jam as it is way better. I left the apple fritter last as i read that this was the bakery's specialty; I was very disappointed again. The three items had a common taste - old oil. I don't know if this was a bad day for the bakery as this was my first purchase but suffice to say that I'm not going back there. Bought 3 items and all failed miserably. It did leave a lasting impression on me but not the good kind.
I have been visiting this bakery almost weekly since I was a child. It has not changed and is amazing! Their Copenhagens and Apple Fritters are our favourite and I have not found anything that compares anywhere else. My kids love their cookies and the pretzel-like cheese sticks. They also have amazing tea time fancy strudels. I hope they never close!!!!
