Del Norte Economic Development Corporation: Serving the Wild River's Region Since 1976!
The Del Norte Economic Development Corporation (DNEDC) was formed in 1976 and has provided business loans for the Del Norte, Humboldt, Curry, Josephine, and Jackson counties. It began with a $1.5 million dollar grant from the Economic Development Administrations (EDA), US Dept. of Commerce. In 1995, the Del Norte Economic Development Corporation received a grant from the USDA-RD to establish a Revolving Loan Fund from Rural Economic and Community Development Services, specifically to help workers displaced by the timber and fishing industries. This grant was for $279,200. During that same year, the Del Norte Economic Development Corporation also received a grant for $70,000 from HUD that was used to establish a "High Risk" Revolving Loan Fund. Between 1991 to 2013, the Del Norte Economic Development Corporation recapitalized with low interest loans totaling $2.1 million.
To date, the Del Norte Economic Development Corporation has made over $5 million in loans to small businesses in Del Norte & Curry County since it was founded. Private sector clients range from restaurants to motels, a high tech company to a storage facility.
