First time tried here. Like the interesting decorations with the cute bunny ears chairs. Food is fine, quite regular quality, to be honest. The waffle was not what We expected as We saw the super beautiful and rich waffle with full of cream display at the door where as the one We got contained only half of it. Same with the chestnut honey toast, we saw some chestnuts on the display but got only one on ours.
Great service, bright interface and cute set-up. Unfortunately, the food promises nothing special, especially given its price point. I would NOT recommend the scallop & shrimp pasta which barely had any seafood OR the clam chowder which is very milky and filled with potatoes. The desserts are a different story however and are the main cause for excitement + reason to come check-out the Dazzling Cafe that's rapidly expanding globally. Warning: The wait time can test your patience.
This place is most famous for their toasts and waffles... but I came here today for lunch... so the menu don't really have a lot of options for you to choose from; if you don't like the sauce they provided, you cannot really make up your mind.. lastly I randomly selected the items that they say are customer's favourite... the slush that I order is very amazing, it's sweet and cold! The French fries are great also, but the rice and spaghetti aren't the best... it's a bit pricy tho, I end up have to pay for $50 just for a small portion of food... but the interior design of the store is quite pretty ... may visit again for the desert next time
A good dessert place that has many options. As you would expect. The drinks the food. Everything is very sweet so if you have a sweet tooth. It’s a good place to go to. Once... Interior is quite nicely decorated so a good spot to snap some pics while your there.
[Full Review: lazymocha. com/] Without knowing the history of the Dazzling Cafe, it will make you imagine France + Taiwan crossover. The restaurant is separated into 2 sections, a drink counter that serves bubble tea, juice and such; the other side is a full service restaurant. I can think of a handful of similar designed restaurants in Vancouver, such as Sugarholic in Aberdeen. Digging up their history, Dazzling Cafe is a mid-high end restaurant chain in Taiwan. They are famous for the sweet honey toast. Inside the restaurant, it’s a trendy setup; a large open-door kitchen next to the relatively medium size dining room with bright colors and a various combination of wallpaper, decor, chairs that looks like movie props. The servers are all dressed in French Maid like uniform, it looks similar to some maid-cafe in Japan. Expect a line up during peak hours as with any new Asian franchise. We arrive early and we are seated almost immediately. Although the signs say their business hour is 6pm, the staff tells us it’s their “last call” time; the place does not close until 7pm. They will simply refuse to serve after 6pm in preparation of store closing. The menu has a white background, similar to the store with a clean look. There are a few categories. Wife and I cook a lot of pasta at home and we want al dante. Dazzling Cafe has a good selection of pasta in pesto or cream sauce. Surprisingly, they choose to cook them the “non-Asian” way I don’t know if it’s legit to call it Italian way, the same way that I would cook at home with olive oil, lightly salted and toppings on top. The portion is a bit small for $13, but it is quite flavorful and not-feeling rich. The pasta is definitely cooked on order, they seasoned with whole leaves of sweet basil and other herbs. The toppings shrimps, mussels are generously added on before serving. The plating I would say it’s better than many pasta restaurants I have been to. Once the main courses are over, we order the chestnut waffle based on the recommendation of our server. I give them a thumb up for NOT adding sugar to the waffle, instead they serve syrup on the side. The chestnut cream is very well done that it’s not overly sweet to overkill the waffle. Service is excellent, because Dazzling Cafe is a Taiwanese chain, the service level is – Taiwanese friendliness, they will bend down to talk to you in a very gentle voice the maid uniform makes everything sounds better!!! . They constantly come and go and replace cutlery and fill up the glass. I am happy with the service. Like I mention earlier, this place is not ideal if I come in hungry. Our bill comes to $46 without any drinks.
When this restaurant opened a year ago, it was super packed and crazy busy. Customers always waited for a long time. I came here with my friends today. First time! The wave of people was gone. My friends and I made reservation online a few days ago and we got a table right away once we arrived at the restaurant. The ambience and interior design made us comfortable. All the dining chairs and decorations created a "high class" feeling. The customer service was great. Although only two servers were serving all customers in the restaurant, they handled everything quickly and properly. They definitely earned some points and scores in my review. My friends and I ordered a pot of tea and a matcha au lait for beverages. But just this matcha au lait cost $6.95. I felt it was expensive to drink it here. I could pay less for a matcha latte somewhere else. We ordered a dish of truffle mushroom risotto and spaghetti with creamy mentaiko sauce. The texture of the spaghetti was about right. It was not too soft or too firm. However, the dish was quite plain and the portion was small. The risotto was not like an Italian risotto. We felt like this was a fusion Asian risotto. We expected there was a lot of cheese that should be mixed with the risotto, but there was a little bit only probably. The rice was not Italian one. It was not even the fat and chewy Japanese rice. It was just like the Chinese Jasmine rice. This was the worst risotto I personally had in my life. Not exaggerating. We were quite disappointed about the risotto. We ordered a mont-blanc honey toast. We saw the photo on the menu that it had a lot of purée chestnut, but it was only a little bit on top for decoration. There was a lot of bread inside and outside and one scoop of vanilla icecream inside the toast. There was some syrup on the side but it was not enough for so much toast. The honey toast tasted good but we felt like we were eating a lot of bread to fill up our stomach. If you ask whether or not I would come back here, probably not to be honest. The presentation of the food looks good. The service is good but the quality of food is not up to my standard yet. I know presentation of the food is important in any restaurants' perspective but the quality of food is more important to me.
It is relatively new open in Richmond. The line up is long. It's the best to pre book the table, especially you have more than 4 people. You definitely want to check out the atmosphere and decorations and chairs here. The staff are well trained as they are super polite. The foods in gerenal are great. Some entrées are unique; however, the portion is small for its price. The desserts, honey toast, are wonderful. The staff will serve and cut the toast for you. Inside honey toast is super delicious, but the outside parts are just bread. PRO: Greatest service. Cool design. Honey toast. CON: Expensive. Waiting.
As other reviewers pointed out, the place is very cute. And contrary to some reviewers, the staff is pretty friendly. They were quick to check with us if the wait times were acceptable. I guess everything is made from scratch or something. But with good company the wait didn't feel long. Don't think it took the 30 mins they estimated. For the food itself, the wings were good. But not $7.50 good. The pasta was fair, like Asian style. But the soufflé pancakes were fantastic. I don't like dessert much, but the fluffy was totally not what I expected. So smooth and soft and easy to go down. Sits in the mouth just right. Based on the dessert and not the other food, I'd say check it out. 5/5 for the pancakes, but overall with the price and stuff 3.5
Pretentious. Not a place to get good food or dessert. But if you are more for the ambience, decor, and want to be seen at one of the "trendy" new openings, then why not. The tea drinks we got are overly sweet. A honey bread with cream, choc sauce and hazelnut is so so , can hardly find the nuts let alone taste it - a half loaf bread hollowed out with cubes of bread then cream/sauce poured over. Not pricey but not cheap either. Annoying that from start to finish every server greeted us with Mandarin though we spoke back in English.
Decor and atmosphere: 5/5 Service: 1/5 It took over half an hour to get a milk tea and it took almost 1 hour to get a risotto Food: 2/5 - The drinks are delicious, however, the dessert and food not so much. - Dark chocolate waffle is dry because there is lots of coco powder in the waffle. It would of been the best with ice cream on top - The risotto was not your typical Italian grain, it seems as if they used white rice grain.
