This was the best steak sub that I've had in Syracuse in a long time. Okay, probably ever. As a first timer I went with the steak sub and fries. I really want to try the onion rings and chicken steak sub next time. The food was really good, the sub was large enough for two servings. The price of the fries were too much for the small serving, so I'll pass on those next time. I'll definitely be back again to try something different. Many specials to choose from to not over spend for lunch. The service by Taco was good.
I got the breakfast steak sandwich, and it was delicious! I switched out the American cheese for the house wiz, and that was a good decision! When I got it, it was still burning hot, but it tasted so good that I kept eating it anyway. I do think this is better than Gino's in Fayetteville sorry Gino's. The only problem was that it's a little expensive after tip, my sandwich was over $20, and that doesn't come with fries, and as someone who has an above average appetite, and probably could have eaten two of the sandwiches, but that would've been a little too expensive. Great flavor, would recommend giving it a go! I'm thinking the pizza steak next time.
Been hearing about this place, and decided to give it a try. I got the provolone wit out, and it was excellent. The meat was slightly peppery and juicy without being soaking wet, the bread was soft but holding up perfectly. Seasoned perfectly! The only thing I didn't like is that I didn't order it Wit, because I've got to try that homemade whiz now that I've had this excellent sandwich! I'll be back!
My first impressions of Danny's Steaks: There was a lot of hype around this place so my expectations were quite high. The best Philly steak in CNY comes from Gino's in my opinion, so I was wondering if Danny's could beat it. Right off the bat, when compared to Gino's for what you get, Danny's is quite expensive but if the taste is superior I can look past that. I ordered a half whiz wit + mushrooms, Danny's whiz fries, onion rings and macaroni salad. I really wanted to try a variety and see what Danny's is all about. The sandwich itself was very good - the roll was excellent and the whiz was definitely homemade, a very solid sandwich overall but a little on the small side. For appx 9 dollars it's about the size of a 6" subway sub but it does hit hard with flavor. By comparison, I can get my usual order from Gino's the Belly Filler which is a whole sub that's completely stuffed with whiz/mushrooms/peppers/onions for $10. I suppose you're paying a premium for the "flair" of downtown Syracuse. The sides I ordered were good and bad; the onion rings were excellent definitely scratch made and hand battered, curly fries were ok - very soft but the whiz definitely helps, and the Mac salad was kind of disappointing While it was well seasoned, the noodles were a bit overdone and mushy with giant chunks of carrot that overwhelm the rest of the salad. Also, the portion size was on the small side yet again, barely filling the bottom of the container. I usually enjoy Mac salad but I was pretty disappointed with this version. I'm happy that I tried it and I was able to support a local business, but it was a little on the expensive side for what you get. It might sound like I didn't enjoy my meal but that's not true at all, my cheese steak and onion rings were amazing and I would definitely go back again sometime but overall I still prefer Gino's over Danny's.
Went to Danny's for lunch today 12/10 and had a great meal. Ordered the half steak, fries and a drink combo, choosing a classic wiz wit. The food was delicious and came out very fast, and the employee working the register was very polite and friendly.
I have eaten at Danny’s Steaks a few times now. Not only is the quality of food great, the portions are generous, and their staff is helpful and friendly. They have a variety of items from tacos to cheesesteaks and burgers. I highly suggest checking out this restaurant in their Downtown location or at NBT Stadium
Save your Time, Money and Taste Buds. It’s a Strong NO! The food is very bland; basically has no taste. You’d think you have COVID after eating there because you can’t taste anything. The bread is wet, the meat is seasonlessif that’s a word. If you’ve had a real Philly this doesn’t even compare! If you’ve never had a Philly don’t go here! it will ruin your anticipation and thoughts on a true steak sandwich and Philly…The fries and cheese sauce was a disaster as well… On a positive note customer service and atmosphere was nice. Eat at your own risk!
Cleanliness: A+ Atmosphere/Interior design: A+ Greeter-cashier-waitress: A+ Food: A+ The place was boomin. Inside wasn't packed, which works for me given the current pandemic, but the phone was ringing nonstop and lotsa folks comin in for take-out. I had the Whiz Wit and it was -- tha bomb. Anytime I return, I'll be getting it again and again. The roll it is served on was fresh and just perfect...slightly crusty on the outside and soft and airy bread. Had a glass bottle'o'Coke. So glad Danny's Steaks is downtown.
I stopped in and being from Philly I am always a critic of steak sandwich’s outside of Philly. Well I ordered the chicken Utica greens sandwich and it was delicious. Loaded with shave chicken? The roll was soft and the Utica greens had a nice spice to them. I would highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back. You might want to give the inside more of a Philly feel with more pictures, team jerseys, and maybe Rocky playing on one of the monitors. Just an idea. Keep up the great work Mark
I believe I’m being generous with a 3 star. I want to like them so bad. We dined in on Sunday afternoon 11/20. We couldn’t decide what I wanted so, we all ordered a little bit of everything. My basic whiz wit steak fell apart as soon as I picked it up and I had to eat it with a fork. The bread needs major help. The house made chips were pretty spicy, which I loved but we’re not advertised as spicy and my husband was disappointed he couldn’t eat them. The kid found a hair fried into his chicken tender; but the tenders were otherwise pretty good, crispy, and homemade/battered. The young lady working the counter I believe was new since she could not answer any of our questions, but she was kind nonetheless. As a chicken wing connoisseur, I was super excited to try their “whole wings”. What I received were rubbery single wings with thin sauce that just fell off the chicken. The blue cheese served with it had a sour aftertaste. We all tried one and tossed the rest. I was sooo excited to try their unique concept, but was so so so disappointed My daughter ordered a Caeser salad and added chicken. Her salad was served 10 minutes after we all got our meals. The same young lady working the register brought it and offered and excuse about trying to perfect the croutons in the fryer. Well, the croutons were wet and soggy with grease. We had to ask for dressing as the salad was not tossed as a caeser should be. The basket same basket fries are served in was too small to mix the salad and salad wound up all over the table. On a good noted, the curly fries were very good. Crispy, good flavor, and about identical to Arby’s.
