It’s the first time I visit after their burn down few years ago. The service and the food is very consistent towards the best side, the curry is yummy as I like it and the wonton & sui kaw is tenderness and tasteful. Although it is soft opening, still a lot of customers there, hope it would continue to do a good job as before.
First time trying the restaurant. I never heard of this restaurant before but apparently it was in business since 1979 but was shut down due to a fire 7 years ago. The newly reopened restaurant was bright and clean. The menu was really extensive. We ordered the Steamed Chicken with Veggie Rice in Bucket, Wonton Noodle in Soup and Braised Beef Brisket & Tendon. Pretty decent food and price was reasonable. A nice option in Chinatown.
Food is awesome here, 10/10 would come back again. Definitely reminds me of Hong Kong, the flavours are fresh, authentic and decent portion size. Probably the best Chinese food you’ll find within a 15km radius. Also great service!
Recently newly renovated and reopened, Daisy Garden looks updatedand refreshed. It's an entirely new space which includes a sliding door entryway - possibly an overlooked feature, but it makes so much sense! Amidst all the new perks of the space, the food is what returns the nostalgia. Back is the traditional Cantonese style bbq meats and comforting wonton soups and wholesome congees. We ordered wonton soup, beef tendon noodles, beef brisket noodles, and the lunch special which included an appetizer bbq sampler, beef chow mein, and dessert Everything tasted as we remembered and quickly brought us back to our childhood. It is wonderful to see this restaurant return and recover from its mishap from a few years ago. If you are visiting Vancouver Chinatown, this is one of the many local businesses that could use your support - and your belly will thank you!
The missus and I recently had lunch at the reopened Daisy Garden Kitchen. We had made the trek to Chinatown as we liked the steamed baos made at the New Town Bakery next door. The Daisy Garden Kitchen restaurant was renovated following a fire a few years back. The dining area was very clean and bright with the relatively new furnishings. The washrooms were still very clean also. The missus had the sui kau noodle soup and I had the roast pork/soya chicken with rice. The soup was only average and my BBQ meats were lukewarm at best and more on the cold side. Personally, I like my food hot to bring out the flavors. The serving size was also very small for the price paid. At that price, there are other restaurants in Vancouver or Richmond that will give at least 50% more meat. Also, as we were dining, the hostess was chastising an employee in a not very nice tone close to our table. It only added to our unhappy experience. Putting aside the effort required to make the trip to Chinatown, we will not return due to the food quality and price.
I miss the original Daisy Garden, this one is all new ownership, cooks and etc. BBQ meats are were in one of the best in town but now it may be one of the worst. MSG is heavy in most dishes. Prices are a bit above average and service is acceptable.
This place is GREAT! If you are looking for poor service and discrimination... The sad part is the Chinese serving staff discriminate against another Chinese customer. The good news? Probably only because of one staff, the other staff seems very nice and friendly. Which makes me wonder... Is that a disgruntled staff? Or an idiotic owner? Vancouver has been lovely, this was the only negative experience I have been through
Happy Hour for Wonton Soup! The restaurant is clean beacuae it is a renovated space. I ordered the wonton soup and it was very good and better than most places around Chinatown. I found the service clean and up to par, responsive. Youihhy find the menu a little sparse for a Chinese restaurant, but the dishes are done right. The old Daisy Garden was reknown for its BBQ, but this time around they miss the mark. Still pretty good, but hoped for more from the BBQ. All in all pretty good for a quick snack.
Went to Daisy Garden Kitchen Cafe in Chinatown for wonton noodles. I liked it quite a bit. I ordered vermicelli rather than noodles as I'm not a huge fan of noodles. The vermicelli texture was quite perfect since it has a big of chew. There were about 6 wonton which is decent number. The roast pork was also very nice. Crispy skin and nice layer of fat and meat. Another gem in Chinatown.
It was probably two months ago when we visited for the first time. They said it reopened after a fire. Generally, we weren't impressed with the two items ordered see picture. For the cost of the items, the amount of food in each dish was far from worth the money. The meats were placed as though they were rare delicacies - far from it. This was the dinner portion I can't imagine lunch. This is especially short of a good meal especially since there's a couple other good BBQ restaurants in the same area. Perhaps, having had BBQ meats growing up, this place really feels like a rip-off. I'm honestly struggling to write this review but I believe others need to know especially if it's your first time. This is one of those places where it's only worth a try. Unless there's a change, I don't believe it's worth returning. Sorry! The positive: The interior looks alright!
