Thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes I’ve ordered: seafood chowder, chicken and broccoli bowl, and red curry noodle. Certainly will be ordering the same dishes again. Service was fantastic - everyone was so friendly! The ambience of the restaurant was amazing as well. Cannot recommend this place more.
Love going here for drink with friends. Really kind and caring stuff who are attentive and active. The club nights are very fun to go to and are planned out well. Food is good love getting the poutine and Long Island. It’s a bit expensive but with food cost going up it’s understandable.
Staying in the hotel working for a week in Duncan and there is no other restaurants in walking distance except for Tim hortons and subway. Ordered a 10oz New York strip with garlic prawns that came to 45$. The steak has good flavour because it’s drenched in butter but it has no sear at all, ordered medium rare and it’s well done. Prawns cover up the poor sear and are the same deal. “Loaded potato” is rock hard and cold and came with a teaspoon of sour cream. So disappointed. I wish I went to the grocery store. Work pays for this and I’m exhausted, otherwise I would be going back down to stand in line and return it. Edit: Thanks to the owner for the reply. That really shows that they are striving to improve. I’m not sure how you they will be contacting me but I am staying in room 213. Edit 2: The owner personally came and apologized as their chef was not in last night due to unforeseen circumstances and has now made it right. Wow. Great customer service. Just for them taking the time to do what is right, that deserves 5 stars. I will adjust the review once I place an order later tonight. Hold on for Edit 3. Thank you! Edit 3: Ordered calamari and hot wings. Calamari was cooked PERFECTLY and delicious but sat on-top of a bed of lettuce which steamed in the box so the coating came off. Would suggest even putting some paper in the bottom of the box to absorb excess moisture. Calamari is also not the best choice for take out , I know. Wish the wings were crispy but they had good flavour and not dried out.
Another dinner on the road, too lazy to drive, so decided to have dinner by the hotel. Special of the day are the appys, but basically all the good ones are excluded. A little disappointed, so I decided to just have wings, ribs and clam chowder. Ribs are soft, but not much flavour in the meat, pretty much relying on the sauce. Wings are ok, lightly breaded, sauce was tasty. The clam chowder was my favourite dish, lots of flavour. Food was not bad for a pub.
One of our favourite local places to come for dinner or drinks! My fiance and I live about 5 minutes down the road, and are SO lucky to have such a gem in our neighbourhood. The owners and staff are incredible and treat you like family!!!
Was very good ! The Cook recommended apples on the nachos , it seemed a little strange at first,But was French so I went with it. It did not disappoint ! Portions were huge! Nachos, 2 of us could barely finish it!
I came I'm with some friends a few weeks ago and had the a great experience! Mostly the service by our server Starr! She was amazing! Super funny and attentive and on the ball! The food was mediocre. The reason I gave it a five Star review was for the service. Good job Starr keep up the work!
A TRUE HIDDEN GEM IN DUNCAN!!! While traveling through the island on our babymoon, we decided to stop by this place as it came highly recommended by a local friend. We went for lunch on a Wednesday around 1pm, and I would say it was quite lively for the time of day and week we had visited. You have to enter through Best Western, but do not have to be a guest at the inn to dine at the restaurant. First of all, I really loved the ambience of the lounge - although they had dimmed lighting, the natural lighting coming in from the windows provided perfect balance for a lunchtime visit. The beautiful bar area, string lights and cute touches to the walls gave off a really fun, yet cozy vibe to the interior as well. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable when it came to the menu. Our server gave us some recommendations and we decided to order the Cauliflower Bites, Seafood Chowder, Chicken & Broccoli Bowl, and the Beef Dip Burger. The appies arrived first, and I cannot rave enough about how good these were! The cauliflower bites were lightly battered and had a really nice crunch without being at all too greasy or heavy. I was quite impressed with the seafood chowder as well, as it was not super salty or heavy as I have had in other restaurants in the past. The seafood tasted very fresh, and I enjoyed the different combinations of flavors I could taste with every spoonful, as the soup consisted of various types of veggies and seafood. For the main dishes, the Chicken & Broccoli Rice Bowl had a great peanut sauce with some very fresh and tender chicken breast. I wouldn't say the sauce is an authentic Thai recipe, but it was tasty regardless! I had a bite of my hubby's burger, and was really impressed at the quality of the patty - super juicy, yet not too fatty. The brioche bun paired perfectly with the texture of the other ingredients, and the au jus served on the side in a gravy boat was nice and flavorful and really brought the whole burger together. The server checked in on us every now and then to make sure everything was going okay, and I just had praises everytime she dropped by. Overall, I was very impressed with my experience at CVI and would definitely recommend this place to anyone who may be in the area or passing through Duncan.
Recently booked a private luncheon for a wonderful group of volunteers. Arrived to find the room was decorated perfectly and they used the false walls to make it intimate and the perfect size for my group of 20. The food was delicious and they even provided to-go boxes for the leftovers so there was no food waste. Excellent experience and I would book there again.
Drove here from Victoria, we called ahead of time to ask if they had any wings on special, they said yes appys are $10 and they had 15 different flavors wings. Get here and unfortunately they weren't. Left a tip for the waiter and left.
