Staff were very nice, the food was a bit expensive for what you get. The pretzel with the two sauces is OK. The beer cheese sauce was 85% beer I swear still bubbly and 15% curdled yellow cheese. I did ask if thats normally how it is and they said yes. The Breakfast sandwich is $8 just for the sandwich, not bad, but doesn't come with any sides like fries etc. Because their menu is small I expected better choices. But what they did provide was good quality other than he beer cheese.
Got some fries and poutine during the silverskate festival. I don't expect too much from a rec central cafe, but they were pretty bad. Watered down ketchup and flavourless gravy. It's just not good enough for the price.Food: 2/5
Finding this place was such a pleasant surprise! It’s perfect to have a cafe here, and it’s super awesome that it’s more than just chocolate bars and chips, but actual food and local brews! I had the halibut burger and it was amazing, my husband loved the bison burger. The atmosphere is great and the staff is super friendly. We will be back! I’m excited to try their breakfast!
The breakfast sandwich was good, but the lady at the counter was quite sullen and clearly didn't want to be there. Also no fries b/c the fryer was broken, and the coffee was bad. Beautiful spot with wasted potential!
It's Culina, what's not to love? House made menu items including meals, snacks, soups and that Halibut burger is sooo good. They give lots of local support to their menu including Little Bear gelato items. A beautiful addition to Hawrelak park and our YEG summer scene. Rain or shine, sit back and enjoy a well made coffee with a meal or snack. A true gem in our city!
The staff is amazing! Friendly and excellent at their jobs! I also loved the bison burger, it was really good! Would definitely recommend!
I went there around 2 this afternoon and it was really quiet the rain had just stopped. First time there so I ordered the Halibut sandwich with a Chocolate milk which was good. At 15 dollars maybe more expensive than fast food, but this sandwich was several cuts above fast food. I did have to wait a bit but quality takes time and I wasn't in a hurry. Setting is beautiful.
The service is terrible. Upon first approaching the window I was literally ignored, the girl looked right at me and turned away and put headphones on and all I wanted was to know what time they closed. Whatever, no big deal, looked around for a sign and it said closed at 8pm. I came back at 7:25 and was denied any food order as they close the kitchen at 7:30. When we questioned that it is not yet 7:30 the response was "well we do it around half and hour". This information was not posted anywhere. Quite annoying.
Great space and better than your standard cafeteria food. Great selection of beer and beverages. Food took nearly 30 minutes. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu with decent offerings
Nice location, great food - just takes a real long time. They are not set up well for a big order and if you do make a big order, prepare for them to let you know that they don't appreciate it. I felt like even though spending close to $100 for my family of 5 that they would have preferred if I didn't order as much. Disappointing for sure to say the least. I would consider trying them again but maybe just for the gelato and if there is no line-up.
