They must have worked hard to get the new Crazy Cactus location ready for their New Year's Eve celebration. Only a couple of weeks earlier, we were paying a last visit to their old location before they closed it down and moved everything downtown to their new 3rd Avenue location. A few days into the new year, we dropped in to check things out. Then, a week or so after that, we dropped in again. I have to say, the downtown location is much more convenient for us than the old location, although I suspect that parking could be more of a problem. The new location has the same atmosphere as the old location, but with a lot more space. Plus, it's newer, so that helps a lot, too. I don't like the boisterous nighttime crowds, but I do like Crazy Cactus for its lunch and supper menu. It's a great place to stop in on a Saturday afternoon. They have an interesting approach to the menu. Every entree is $8, so you just pick what you like and know that no matter what you pick, it'll cost the same. On the back of the menu, everything is $9. There are extras, such as starters and salads. There are also specials on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Simple. I like that. They made a good choice in putting Churchill Brewing Company on tap. I'm happy to say that Crazy Cactus now brews locally roasted beans from Road Coffee Company in Saskatoon. If you happen to be the designated driver, there's usually nothing worse than having to endure bar coffee - it's enough to drive you to drink! Decent coffee means that your friends will be fighting over being the designated driver. Service was really, really slow on our last visit. It felt like we were being deliberately ignored, but maybe there was just some dispute over which server was assigned to our table. It made us feel unwelcome, and it was so opposite to our experience the times we visited for lunch. Once we managed to get the server's attention, we received our drinks promptly and our food arrived quickly after that. We never got any sort of explanation why it took more than 30 minutes to catch someone's attention.
Food was great! Drink and food prices were pretty fair! Service was okay! Took awhile to order food and recieve bill! Food wait was quick! Atmosphere is pretty neat! I had shrimp tacos and sweet potatoes fries and it was great! They offer specials. There is a roof top deck here, and VLTs here! :
Amazing roof top patio. Had the 5 drinks bucket for $30, and the happy hour pizza which was delicious and shareable for 2 people. Would definitely come back and recommend it to others.
Cool no non-sense bar. Lower level is where anyone can fit in and have a drink. I haven't made it upstairs yet but I'm told it's a younger crowd. Their gringo beer, tequila, bar lime served over ice in a green plastic cup is why I go there, and you'll likely see a lot of people drinking them.
Roof top is awesome. Great drinks atmosphere and perfect hot wings.
Patio was nice treat to sit in the sun. Drink options lacked, food was OK, and it was too loud. Loud as like, club loud, not restaurant/bar loud. Waitress was super nice though
I was actually surprised by how much I liked this place. My enchiladas and soup were excellent. My boyfriend loved his fries and didn't care much for the burger. Overall friendly staff and we would come back
We were upstairs, after many stairs lol It was only us and a bartender, Chris or Matt comes to mind but not sure either way he made the experience enjoyable by suggesting drinks and food, we pretty much went with his suggestions and wasn't disappointed, thanks dude!!!
Can’t go wrong with cheap wings and beer $4.50 and $5.50 on Wednesdays. The wings are better than bridges, the bones don’t snap easily which means it’s fresher. It’s a good patio too, you get the sun but blocked off from the wind on the side.
Place is wack. Kicked me out because I had a longboard. Your loss. I was only going to spend a few hundred. Less tips for your employees. Typical crazy cactus ownership.
