Spectacular marina with live aboard moored houseboats and all sorts of sail and power boats. There is a commercial dock where it looks like they process fish from trawlers coming in with their catch. Great for pictures and just being near the water. Lots of restaurants nearby but it was late and we didn’t stay long enough to dine out. Highly recommended if you are travelling near Maple Bay, Mill Bay or Cowichan Bay. Just take a a brief detour off of the main highway #1.
Passed through Cowichan Bay, walked along the front and had a good choice of eating places, from the bakery to sweet shop or a few restaurants.nThere is an excellent artist gallery next to the sweet shop which has several different artists displaying their works.nWatched a dock full of vocal seals.nAwesome views across the water.nSome very nice houseboats to see
Great place to watch seals get eaten by orcas or watch sealions and fat gingers hull out on the docks.
What a wonderful location. Very quiet and serene. We had a patio seat overlooking the Marina. Drinking a beer, having a snack, whilst overlooking this beautiful area doesn't get much better on an equally sunny and warm day.
After an extensive search for moorage all over the South Island, we were thrilled to be offered a space at this great local marina. Steve and Astrid are exemplary hosts and marina owners, who are clearly trying hard to provide a small community marina that feels safe and welcoming. We can't wait to move our boat here in a few weeks!
