The tour ended up being my husband and I and the guide. It was awesome. We were able to see about a dozen seals near the logs and sit and watch them for awhile. We also got a nice tour of the bay.
We did the 2h night-time bioluminescence kayaking tour, and it was a superb experience. Gary was our guide, and he taught us all the necessary techniques to be safe getting in/out and paddling on the kayak before we got going. On our trip, we paddled around the bay, with lots of interesting facts about the area from Gary. By the time it got darker, Gary led us away from the lights of the village, where we were able to see the plankton bioluminescence more clearly. It was truly amazing to witness first-hand, and highly recommend anyone to come experience. We would definitely come back again. Thank you Gary and Coastal Bliss for such a memorable time!
We opted for the Evening Unwinder tour and loved it. Helpful instruction, patient staff, well informed guide thx Tim!, lots of wildlife, and gorgeous views. Highly recommend! Will return!
Well prepared. First time kayaking in Cowichan Bay. Booked ahead. Everything was ready to go. I was pleased to see that they outfitted my kayak with all the necessary gear including a paddle float for self-rescue and an extra paddle. They also gave me a good briefing on some of the wave conditions that I might experience on my way to Genoa Bay. The Seaward kayak I used was an awesome fit and in great condition. I really enjoyed the kayak and trip to Genoa Bay and back.
Our group of 8 booked kayaks for an evening to see the bioluminescence. Despite our late arrival, the staff was very, very accommodating getting our kayaks prepared, gave helpful instructions and pointed out good spots to visit. They also shifted our return time as well so we wouldn't have to rush.
