This campground is a money grab. They wanted to charge me $25 per tent. Which is nonsense. They were somehow packed, being that it was labor day weekend and being fair it was overflow but it was also the worst "campsite" I've ever seen for $75. I've been to many campgrounds and have never heard of this. Even $10 for day use. Pretty sure there is a decent free launch on the way. I will say the people at the front office were nice enough. Just go 15-20 minutes down the road and there was a few wonderful campgrounds. Outwest Campground had a beautiful site for $35 with all three tents. With power and a water access right behind our site! They even had a amazing firework display. Better than ones I've seen in Sylvan Lake or Red Deer on Canada Day. I'd give zero stars if I could.
Staff are friendly. Nice big lake, good for swimming or watercraft. Saw some big fish being pulled out of the lake. The little store and restaurant nearby is handy, and there is a trail through the woods that you can walk there. Showers are $2 for 4 minutes, and there are sinks, but no flush toilets pit toilets only. All sites are unserviced. Not as many trees as I would like between the treed sites, but not bad. It was super busy on Labour Day long weekend, but that's to be expected. On site dump station is handy. Check out the web site - lots of good info.
Dogs aren’t allowed anywhere here. That’s what camping is for. But they can’t walk on the grass or in the park. They can’t walk on the beach. They can’t go in the water. They can literally walk on the little strip of road and then your site which is as small as a bathroom and kind of smells like it too. Might as well camp in a parking lot. The stalls are about the same size and same amount of trees.
Good: Overall, really nice campground. 4 / 5 Bad: -1 The bathrooms were definitely lacking. Showers facility did the trick, but all drains and outhouse toilets smelt sooo bad. Didnt look like any chemical was used to control odors.. Almost unbearable odor. Considered lettin my kids go in the woods... If you arent bringing a trailer with your own bathroom, this may be a sore spot. Otherwise, really nice sites, green space and beach. Beach would be even better if they cleaned up goose droppings every couple days.
Good for family getaway. Nice for fishing too
Nice Campground. Compare to Alberta Park, its price is way cheaper, but their amenities are not that bad. However, slow fresh water pump and Sanidump are not great.
The campsites in the trees are beautiful but anything up top feels a bit like you're in an overflow area. The staff were nice and helpful, and were very friendly. The grounds were kept very clean and well maintained. My only complaint is that this place seems to really dislike dogs. They have to be leashed at all times understandable, not allowed on the beach ok but not allowed to swim if you are away from the beach. Come on! I understand the reasons for not wanting dogs on the beach but perhaps have an area somewhere that they can go? I know there is limited waterfront but many people have dogs in their family and just want to take them out for a bit of fun. Other than that it was an overall good experience.
Very nice well kept family friendly campground, staff was really nice the beach was wonderful! Definitely will be coming back!
I just went to have supper with a friend who has been camped there for 6 weeks. She loves it. And many of her family members and friends have gone up and camped at various times over the summer. It is a very popular place. I like how well treed the lots are..creating shade in the extreme heat we've had and a goodly degree of privacy between sites as well.
Great campground very clean however that bathrooms need to be cleaned out as the waste is up to the bottom. All around great!
