Country Squire Motel

Every now and then its important to stay strong a motel to remind my kid that it isnt all Marriott hotels. Smaller, cheaper and way less busy is very nice. The Country Squire was clean and had a functioning ac unit. Had a great drip coffee maker in room, like a 6 cup one. I liked its location, minutes off the highway, but still outside town. I had coffee outside in the morning and there was some green space and birds chirping and flying about. Quiet. I needed more creamer for my wife's coffee and the guy behind the counter went and got it immediately. Very friendly. For the money, I would stay anywhere near ottawa, I would stay here every time.

Some of the negative reviews scared me, but the place is fine.nnTo address some of the thing said, the bathroom mold is what you'd expect from just regular use you'd see in a home bathroom around the edges, and yes the bathtub can be very slippery.nnThe TV does work, the remote doesn't turn on the TV, it turns on the box beneath it to change channels, and you can pull forward the TV attached to the wall to access the power button and volume from there.nnThe people were nice, check-in ends 11pm we called and said we're running late and will be there at midnight, she said no problem and to ring the doorbell. We rang the doorbell and she opened it very sleepy, like she was awoken mid slumber must be sleeping in there and helped check us in. Have your Driver's license and credit card and it's fast check in smooth.nnRooms were clean, non smoking and AC was working good. It does the job for the price and nothing egregiously wrong with it. All the bad reviews are from people who were most likely felt scorned and blowing out of proportion the flaws to this place. I'd go again

Me and my bf are coming down 14h for a family reunion on a bus, so I had contacted an expedia agent to find a motel that wouldn’t need a credit card as I don’t have one. Over the call there was no mention of needing any sort of Id, and I don’t have lots of experience with motels, only the one in my small town which has never asked for id but I still brought one with me. When we get there it’s around 10 - 11 pm since that’s when the bus drops us off and as soon as we get inside the lady there has a bad attitude. She asks for id and when I give her it she says it’s not the right kind of ID, so I offer my birth certificate and she says that doesn’t work either and she needs a photo ID which I had but she doesn’t accept it. So I tell her, no one ever mentioned I needed this because If that were the case, I wouldn’t have came all this way and brought my bf with me if I knew this would be an issue, so I again ask her if there any thing they do in this scenario. You’re telling me that me and bf have to be on the streets for 9 days, because of a miscommunication? And I already paid? At this point she starts to yell at me, which first of all, as your customer, you can’t not talk to me the way she was talking to me. No kindness, no empathy, no customer service. So, we leave, make a few calls, and find someone with a proper ID to help us have a place to sleep. Luckily I have family in the area, but nobody has the room for us, and I’d feel bad to ask to sleep there after so much time has passed. When we get to our room, the first thing we notice is how there bathmat is moldy, and the bathtub was not properly washed because there was still soap residue which caused me to slip and fall and hit my chin on the tub, but I didn’t make a big deal about it because I was to tired, and didn’t feel like having another problem with the owner. After our 2 nights my uncle says we can stay at his for the night because there was one night not available for us, so the plan was to be back the next day to check in. So as I’m checking out for those first 2 nights the guy who works there tells me that if I want to cancel I can, remember that it’s obviously already been 48 hours and how I’m not experienced with motels, so I take his word for it. I come back the next day to tell them that I found somewhere to sleep and I don’t need the room anymore and came back for the security deposit. Instant yelling at me and screaming at me, saying that I have to cancel within 48 hours before checking in, the. Why did he ever tell me cancellation was an option? They have NO place to speak to anyone like that, let alone a customer. I can understand why they would be upset, they do lose business because I had already scheduled those days, but I was told I could cancel, and when I told the lady that the guy told me that, she immediately storms off to get him and he comes back screaming at me aswell acting like he never said that, so I just say can I just get my deposit. And while I think that’s what she’s doing she just takes 600 dollars out of my account with out telling me the nights I would’ve been there would have been 600. I get that your losing business but you can’t just take my money with out letting me know, if I was told why she was doing that, and warned this would happen I’d have no problem but you can not just do that, I was blindly robbed. I did not feel safe sleeping in their motel, because of these owners. I should feel safe, but instead I had to walk on egg shells because I knew that one small thing they would kick us out, and we would be on the street. No one should go to this motel unless these owners start to learn what respect and consideration is. When you’re job involves speaking to the public and giving rooms to people, you never know someone’s sitcuation, so learn that just because your having a bad day, don’t put that on other people, kindness goes a long way. Would not recommend this motel to my worst enemy, and never plan to go back.

Checked in really late at night, but they were super accommodating if a little sleepy. Rooms were nice, include a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker - not just a keurig.

A great motel run by the most friendly gentleman. He offered great recommendations for where to eat and even joined us for friendly conversations while sitting outside.nThe town has a wonderful beach that is close by and not too crowded.nThe room was clean and comfortable with the usual fridge, microwave and coffee machine. We had a room with a Jacuzzi and there was plenty of hot water to enjoy this and have a shower. The pressure was also great.nI highly recommend this motel.
