COOKS is the quintessence of burger joints. Not just for the Comox Valley, or Vancouver Island, or BC, or Canada but for all burger joints in the world. What they have to offer is the extremely scarce experience of extraordinarily delicious, yet straightforward options. It is a lost art to have a menu where every item can hold its own, while balancing simplicity and distinct character. COOKS lets their menu speak for itself. The priority to serve you a top-of-the-line meal is apparent, and their knowledge of the mighty burgers history is evident. They know very well that it must be paired with a cold-beer or a premium milkshake and fries with a personality. Sadly, I have to drive an hour to visit them so I have yet to ever pair a brew with my burger on their perfect pretty patio. Would I love it if they franchised and started World Burger Domination? Mayhap. But I assume what makes them special is their team and leadership, so unless they receive access to state-of-the art cloning technology, I will find solace in their one and only Cumberland location. tl;dr: Go to COOKS. Eat anything. Leave full and happy. Look at their funny social media accounts. Get sad and hungry cause you're not at COOKS. Repeat. Thank you COOKS. Your restaurant and marketing bring me joy. I hope you and your team thrive forever or for however long you want.
The hamburgers were terrific but the fries were dry and overcooked. I called to let them know, and they thanked me, but no offer to replace them. It's too bad because I won't be going to Cook's again.Food: 2/5
Great spot! Casual, the staff were very helpful. They carry a great selection of craft beer. Cute merch also, ended up grabbing the pickle shirt!
We were in town for the day to bike and ended with COOKS. This is hands down the best food I’ve ever eaten at any restaurant in my life! We got the spicy chicken sandwich and the fried chicken sandwich with messy fries and both sandwiches were amazing - the spice level was perfect, the chicken was so tender and crispy, and the pickles, bacon, and shredded lettuce made the sandwiches the best they could be. Service was excellent, the staff was super nice, and the food was sincerely so delicious. We mentioned it when we were there but to reiterate, Squamish could use a place like this. More than five stars!!
Such a great little place! The food was delicious & beer on tap was nice and refreshing addition on a hot summer day. 5 stars for the customer service . The younger lady who helped us was so darn friendly but not in the fake customer service way , just a truly nice person. Keep up the great work. I will definitely make a point to stop in again when I am back out that way!
As of April 2nd, 2023, Cooks has the best Spicy Chicken Sandwich in the Comox valley. See bottom of review for burger review First, they use a chicken thigh rather than a breast so the meat is tender and moist all the way through. The breading is light and crispy with a dusting of medium spice level seasoning and topped with jalapeño mayo with a low spice level. Next your met with the crunch of the coleslaw and the sweet bite of the pickles, perfectly complimenting the tender chicken. All wrapped up in a soft bun. I will be returning frequently for this chicken sandwich. If you like popeyes chicken sandwich, tie your shoes on tighter because COOKS chicken sandwich will knock your socks off.
Great food made quickly! While the prices are a little on the high end, the friendly service and great food makes up for it. Menu items are simple and let you order exactly what you want, how you want it. Never too busy, so you don’t feel rushed to order or finish eating. The patio is open on nice days which is a very enjoyable eating experience, with fabric covering above that blocks a lot of the heat from the sun.
Very classic/simple but well-prepared and tasty burgers, sandwiches, and side dishes. Licenced so you can enjoy a pint of local craft brew or cider. Very fun and clean branding and environment. It really shows that the owners care about this business and the customers. I'm looking forward to trying their breakfast menu! Kid-friendliness: Hey, there a few rugrats and babies at this place when I dined. No problems at all and definitely kid-friendly
Has a "Ikeaesque" atmosphere. Burger was thin but flavourful. They called it smashed. I dug it and the patio is small and quaint. The highlight was the front of house dude Mesha. Super friendly and chatty. When in the area give it a shot. Slight selection but good beers on tap as well.
Just a simple and delicious burger with quality ingredients! Delicious. And the messy fries are to die for! So much flavour and crispyFood: 5/5
