I can't thank these people enough. My fiancé and I were completly saved by them due to pine grove cabins completely tossing out our reservation and turning us away after driving 5 hours from Winnipeg. They lent us a tent, gave us something soft to sleep on and an unbelievable campsite right on the lake even though space was very limited. They went completely out of their way to not have us turn around and go home forgoing our holiday. Our trip ended up being even better then planned and they were exceptional. Highly recommend and thank you so very much!
Can't say enough good things about the owners here. My fiancé and I were essentially stranded after another site "lost" our reservation after we had driven 5 hours from outside Winnipeg. We had nowhere to stay and were going to have to turn around and drive another 5 hours home. We spoke to the folks at Cooks and they were able to get us a campsite for 2 nights. They even went the extra mile and loaned us a tent and some bedding so we weren't forced to sleep in our car. Unbelievably kind people and we had an amazing site with the most beautiful view. We will be intentionally booking with them next year!
Very clean cabin and wicked walleye fishing
Website is VERY out dated. So probably best to call to get actual relevant information, they do not rent boats anymore but luckily Moak Lodge just down the road does! And the campsite price was more expensive than the website said but still reasonable. The lady that greeted us at the camp office when we got there was not very friendly at all, maybe we caught her at a bad time. But when I emailed about booking a campsite they told me they don’t take reservations and to just show up. So that’s what we did. She was also kind of annoyed that we had a dog. I guess they have 3 camp dogs that they’ve had trouble with people feeding/dogs not getting along in the past maybe? I did mention that we’d be bringing a dog when I emailed them and nothing was mentioned about it then. So we didn’t feel very “welcomed” when we arrived. With that being said, our campsite RIGHT on the water was absolutely beautiful and pretty private considering the campground is pretty open concept. Bathrooms were kept clean which you can’t say for a lot of campgrounds. And bugs weren’t even bad! Surprising for being so close to the water. Not a very friendly/welcoming environment that you might expect, but the campsite views made up for it!
Sites were very basic and over-priced. We also found the hosts to be quite unfriendly. We were harshly told that the #1 rule was no dogs after we were booked in and set up, even though there were no signs or info on their website saying this. Obviously, we cannot return with our dog, but even without her, we would be looking elsewhere.
Nice area , but super disappointed with the customer service. The owners were not friendly at all, Prices did not match the website at all. Emails were not responded to prior to arrival , never received an invoice prior when they said they would sent it. At check out we were instantly being lashed out on by the owners. When asked why the pricing was different we started getting lashed out on again. Hand soap was not available in the bathroom so if you go bring some. Make sure you bring water too, the water is not drinkable with signs saying not to even wash the dishes with and a sign stating you must clean them prior to your departure. Horrible experience with the owners will not be going back did not feel welcomed there at all.
I tried for over 3 hours to book a cabin for October 1st & 2nd. The owner Terry Cook tried to upsell me to the 200.00 s night cabin . He then cancelled my booking and was inappropriate and rude in an email I would book with hooks resort or Moak Horrible experience
Beauty full and Silence place. Very few mosquitoes and flys. Good ramp for boats, nice shad for fish fillet
Always friendly, willing to help. Lots are deep enough for a large camper
Pretty good cabins, good boat launch. Filleting shack could be bigger.
