Unfortunately, I've been a patient of this place & Stroger Hospital for 7 miserable years. I 100% agree with the "NKD" comments. My experience is that it takes 3 DAYS out of every week I HAVE to go there - 1 day for blood work... one day to see a doctor & turn in my prescription... one day to actually pick up the medicine. You CANNOT HAVE & KEEP A JOB if you're a patient of this place given those circumstances. Yes, the PRO is that it is FREE if you obtain a LOL (Limit of Liability card), but you have to pay for meds (albeit greatly discounted). The trick is to be as SWEET as you possibly can to every worker you encounter. I have noticed that because I practice this, I am treated DIFFERENTLY than other patients. They are very kind to me, but I have witnessed other people being treated like animals! For as much as I HATE having to go to Fantus or Stroger, I would be dead without them... couldn't afford the care or medicines with no insurance. Yes, it's filthy, stinks, and homeless & insane people seem to hang out there to keep warm & sleep & urinate in the entrances, it may be worth it to go there if you have NO CHOICE.

Pro: Free!!!
Cons: Dirty, smells like garbage, most of the people working therer are very rude, takes foreven huge long lines, GET THERE RIGHT BEFORE THEY OPEN.., ive seen IDOC (illinois dept of corrections) inmates come thru in full shackles and cuffs (that was crazy). Having been here a few times and only being prescribed trazadone for anxiety, I decided to not even fill the script (oh yea, you have to wait in line again if you would like to get it filled. Its an okay place for the cost FREE! I would never go back there unless I had to (I had to when I was living in the chi)
