These people charge 249 dollars to surrender the passport which doesn't hold any value. This passport people apply in India by force not by choice. I think it's not worth of 249 $$$$. To apply for OCI is a suicidal decision for those who does it. It 'll limit the Canadian gov't help to those holding Canadian passport if sushma wants i can throw the indian passport in front of the indian embassy,..............she can collect it

Very poor service standards. There is no guidance, procedures on their web are all confusing & doesn't match with staff's statements. Worst thing is they have phone numbers which they don't answer. I email to inquire with 3 question & gets one line answer ("refer to this link") ofcourse i went through website & couldn't find my answers that is why i'm emailing. What a useless answer i gets after long wait. Collected everything as on web then i booked day offs from work & took a 2hrs flight to went there & figured they have some more requirements which are not mentioned on web. Waisted lots of money & time. All could be saved if they answer my call which could take a minute or two otherwise if they explain better in email. They have exact same environment as in topical Indian government Offices. The staff doesn't know much & they are not willing to expain anything. People going there back and forth for small issues which staff doesn't want to tell all at once. No doubt the staff doesn't care about people's time & hassles. So many negative reviews I'm doubting if anyone check them for improvement. If do, atleast open up a helpline so that there will be little less hassle to public from far provinces.

Quite satisfied with service provided - EDIT - could be better I had submitted an OCI application through BLS but one document needed more clarification and I was asked to see an officer at the consulate directly. The service desk is only open from 9:30 to 11:30 weekdays and so I had to take the morning off from work. I got there at 9:15 and was 10th in line for the one counter that was servicing people. I was pointed to another officer who explained things clearly and since I had taken documents with me that I thought might be needed, one of them was enough to complete my application. The officer quickly took a photocopy and I see on the online application tracking page that the application is complete. EDIT: It took much longer than the 2 months for my OCI card. I followed up three times, which led to a follow up from the Consulate to the relevant department in India, and eventually got my card in October - 6 months later. Things to improve: - 2 hours on a weekday morning is hard for most people, maybe have another counter open for service that will make things faster - If possible, send more details about what information is missing so applicant can bring documents that might meet requirements - Follow up on applications submitted as applicants do not have a way to do this themselves.

The front desk girl is rude and harsh. The public bathroom was out of order so I had asked to use their staff one and was told no. When I asked why she said just cause. So you expect people to wait hours on hours to be seen and we can't even use the washroom? She proceeds to tell me I can leave the building to find a washroom.
