It’s a great gym but there are a few things to keep in mind: you are only allowed to forget your armband once a year or they will not let you in. Yes, they can look you up but apparently it’s too much of a pain? Secondly, if you leave your yoga mat, second pair of shoes or boots there, they throw them out after a very short while. First they will put a piece of paper on it that has the date that it will be thrown out. Next it will be gone. Or if you are lucky you might see them in the garbage bin before they are thrown out. It’s likely they donate some of it to a charity. But thr 5 day rule is not exactly a lot of time especially if you only go once a week. This might not be the case for all gyms but that’s how it is at my location. Also Re, they have raised their rates every year since the pandemic. $2 a month more. It so far it’s still a good deal price-wise, much cheaper than other gyms in Quebec, and I do love the massage chairs after work.i would have gotten the membership with aerobics ut the classes are very crowded and the music is loud enough to cause ear damage, in my opnion. On the other side of the sounds spectrum, it Would be nice if they put the music playing on the video screens in front of the treadmills loud enough so you can actually hear it. It’s just barely louder than a whisper. Still s good deal and i do recommend, just don’t forget your entry band or you’ll have to go back home to get it if it’s more than once that year.
Small but it has all the machines you need for a good workout. Bathroom were clean, bed and massage chairs are modern. It could benefit from better ventilation to help with smells.
An incident occured last night at Éconofitness Femmes on Plateau. A male maintenance worker was in the gym to fix the toilets. I have been going to that gym for 4 years now and they always put up a huge signage at the entrance, throughout the facility and especially in front of the locker room. This time was different. My friend and I were not warned ahead of time nor during our visit. My friend who wears the hijab was in one of the stalls and was shocked to hear a man's voice in 2 stalls away from her. She had to text me for assistance to bring her hijab so that she can exit. I even had to warn a woman in her underwear because she was also unaware that a male maintenance worker was in the locker room. When I went to talk to the manager, Alexanne, I was met with a snarky tone and was told that they are not obligated to let us know and that they did not have a bigger signage to put up. There was no sympathy from Alexanne. An employee put up a sign in front of the locker room only after I spoke to the manager and after the male maintenance worker was gone. I am very dissapointed in the management of this gym. My friend and I no longer feel comfortable there.nnUPDATE:nI contacted the corporate office to explain the situation, as it has become a matter of comfort and security. Unfortunately, their response was merely a generic corporate reply, lacking any genuine acknowledgment of the issue.nnSECOND UPDATE:nThe company's blatant disregard for the safety and comfort of their female members is alarming. It is unacceptable that men are allowed in changing rooms where women are present without any prior notice or consideration. Despite my attempts to address the issue by contacting the company, their dishonesty about the communication attempts and lack of accountability is truly disappointing. It is crucial for the company to acknowledge the incident and engage in a meaningful dialogue to address the concerns raised.
Bunch of bull! Machines don't work properly, takes 5 stupid mins just for the machines to pick up the heart rate, machines sound unstable maybe oiled more often. Staff I give 0/5 they are useless in my opinion. Not knowledgable, they do not clean like come on those bathroom/showers/ change rooms are nasty..it looks like the men's change room, prioritize the new walk ins and not the existing clients waiting next, the other gyms have good employees no clue why this one they suck. I see men in the his gym, excuse me EMPLOYES but the husband's can wait in the bloody car, they don't need there support to get info or to sign up for a female only gym, this is a WOMENS gym and that is unacceptable.nDO BETTER ECONO!!
Seeing staff when you first walk in on their phones texting behind the counter, looking totally uninterested with the customers is totally unprofessional. The giggles and the chuckles after a customer enters the gym from these girls is also totally unprofessional. Even if it were to be an inside joke or not, some people will take that as an insult seeing as some people who go to the gym probably have self insecurities.nnThe gym itself is amazing, very well kept, clean and it is a great environment to be in but the lack of customer service by some of the staff is honestly the reason why I will not be getting a membership.nnI’ve personally seen a single worker cleaning while the others were on their phones at the front desk. Not only is this not fair to the poor girl, but also not professional. Says a lot about who actually cares for the customers safety, certainly during a pandemic. Took a while for them to notice that someone was at the entrance waiting for their QR code to be scanned. One time the single worker cleaning came up to the front desk to let the customers in. Most of the time they were not engaged or interested in conversation with customers.nnThere seems to be a lack of management with some of the staff. Not all the workers are like this and it’s saddening that such a good gym could have such a bad reputation because of some uninterested and unqualified workers. Management needs to step up and teach these girls proper customer service, it’s very damaging to the gym’s and the actual good workers reputation.
