zero star review I hired Conestoga Roofing to replace a flat roof on an industrial property in November 2017. Shortly after the roof was replaced, there were leaks. Problem 1 2017 to 2019 Conestoga came and repaired the first set of leaks in November 2017 . Then in March 2018, leaks again. Conestoga insisted that it was condensation. In February 2019 the leakscondensation were back - not until the leaks caused 10,000 of damage to equipment did Conestoga come back to repair the roof. Surprisingly after this repair, this leak was gone, and no more condensation above the tenants equipment. I was not charged for the repair, but I did not receive compensation for the $9,700 of damage. Problem 2 2017 to 2022 The secondary problem was the "condensation" on the blockthat did not exist in the previous 32 years which is still a problem. Once again, condensation was their responsethe same tenant has occupied this space for 8 years before the new roof installation so nothing has changed regarding the use of the space. The company was made aware of this issue in 2018. They provided me with an estimate to fix the problem by estimating full price for the repair $12,468. I am currently involving another roofing company in 2022 to fix the problem which will cost approx. 11,000. Conestoga has not taken financial responsibility for the damage from problem 1 or the repair of problem 2. I received no response from the company after many emails and phone messages. The roof was replaced with the same type of roof. The prior roof was 32 years old and no condensation ever existed during the 32 year period. This can be verified by at least 8 tenants that have rented the unit in the past 32 years. The OIRCA warranty did not provide any financial compensation or any support to reach an outcome. For this situation the warranty was useless. Beware.
Please read this review before you even consider hiring or working for Conestoga Roofing. If I could give this company less than one star I definitely would, I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, especially people under the age of 25. You usually get less than 30 hours a week on average, while your foreman will brag to you about how much money they are making for doing less than you. The owners of this company, especially one owner in particular and his wife are extremely malicious, not to mention the top people in the office are all related. I.E. The owners son would show up two hours late, making people wait and lose out on pay, although they would write you up if you showed up ten minutes early, ready to go. They say they will train you but then your foreman will start yelling at you for not knowing how to do something, there is nobody you can ask either. You will then be criticized more; You better know what your doing while roofing and learn very quick, cutting insulation, waterproofing, lifting over 100 50+pound patio stones and being a yes man to an awful foreman who harrasses you. You are scheduled to start at 6am, but you have to show up for 5:45am sharp, even if you're already ready to go all so that "You're ready when the trucks leave" and then they'll tell you that they don't have any work for you until 7-7:30am and make you sit there and refuse to pay you. Their excuse for not paying you is "You didn't do anything" even though they scheduled you and you aren't allowed to go home. They will still write you up for showing up ten minutes early though. You more than likely will experience harrasment if you work here, sexual harrasment and completely unnecessary comments. Don't wear any PPE or you will be harrased by your 'co-workers' or 'foreman.' You will be the one to face to consequences for reporting it to Human Resources, if you want to call it that. The person who harrased you will get away with it while you're harrased even more for reporting something that makes you feel uncomfortable to do your job. Safety is the least of this companies worries. They will make you pay for a harness you never get the ability to use because Conestoga Roofing did not put anchor points down for you to tie off with at any job site I was at. I.E One job I was directed by two foreman to go to the edge of a sheet metal roof full of ice, snow and slush to use a rope to drag up bundles of insulation about three stories only to do it all over again once they got onto that roof they had to go higher, repeating that very dangerous process again. YOU WILL BE FIRED BEFORE YOU HIT THE GROUND AT CONESTOGA ROOFING. The pay seems decent until you realize you have a probationary period of nine months & you aren't unionized; meanwhile you have to pay for all your own tools from your own paycheque, no benefits until nine months in and you don't get paid for the travel time back to the shop. You will ruin a lot of clothing in the nine months that they do not cover your expenses, if they don't let you to before then. Some people will ask get their benefits way before their nine months is up and get them I've personally seen/heard it from an employee who got his after six months Some people are written up for safety violations, some are fired but most are brushed under the rug. If you're the type to keep your mouth shut when you see people doing wrong or dangerous things, this place would be a perfect for you; not to mention the harrasment that runs rampant here; good luck if you'd like to file a complaint and be treated the same. It's a family run business, if you do decide to work here, all the power to you but I'd definitely consider other places first; it's not the worst place you could work, but you definitely can't get much worse either. I want to say there are no bad feelings towards Conestoga Roofing & I wish all the best to the employees at Conestoga Roofing, but I can't say I'd ever want a part of that company again or associate with any of them. I'm surprised they're still in business.
They responded quickly to address the roof leak. Resolved the issue with quality work and professionalism.
Very happy bunch
