Conejitos Place

Fine experience here. Food was good and prices were okay. A “hole in the wall” kind of atmosphere. Note the 18% service charge is automatically applied to dine in bills. A different service rate is applied to take out, see pictures. I appreciate their note that they’ll be giving their employees a full week off this August.

This place is terrible. Do not go. When I brought the waitress over she said it's what I ordered and I have to pay for it. Even when it looks so gross. I then said I want the manager. Manager couldn't care less what the plate looked like. That's what it is you have to pay for it. I would have been fine with a coupon or a free drink...something. my co worker ate the guacamole with the stale chips. 6.50 for that. 1.50 for the green salsa. 7 dollars for service fee for 2 people? Not sure what happened. I agree with another review...Covid killed this place. It should roll over and give up.

Obsessed with this place!! Bought a t-shirt Just so freaking good. Yeah prices went a LITTLE up, but who cares!! The food was insanely cheap to begin with, settle down people. Margaritas are the best, they'll knock you down! If I lived closer I'd probably gain 30lbs because I'd be there constantly LOL. Tried to post pics but I couldn't NOT take a bite of my enchiladas as soon as he set them down.

I've been coming here since I was a little kid when you could smoke in the bar side lol. The food is my all time favorite Mexican food and the service is great.

I have been to Conejitos a few times in the past couple years, and I have always appreciated the authenticity and value for some Mexican food. It is not a fancy restaurant, classic Mexican food served on the signature paper plate. This place hasn't changed too much through the years, aside from some changes to the pricing. It is understandable, and the prices are still very affordable for the food you get. I am a little disappointed that they no longer offer complementary chips and salsa. They also recently started adding automatic 18% gratuity to all checks, which seems to be a trend lately. While I understand that servers work hard and deserve to be compensated for their efforts, I was taken aback by this policy. In my opinion, tipping should be at the discretion of the customer. It should be based on the quality of service and the overall dining experience. By adding an automatic gratuity to all checks, the restaurant is taking away the customer's ability to decide how much to tip. All being said, still a staple Milwaukee Mexican restaurant for tasty Mexican food and refreshing margaritas, its worth a visit.

Authentic…wonderful, fast service. Simple old school family seating. Good atmosphere…love the beans and cheese.

Love their food, àlways have. Prices are very reasonable. Service fast. It's a bar atmosphere so it is noisy. In the back room, a little more quiet. They add on a tip at 18%. Don't like that as servers need to earn that tip and not a given. They actually get less as I give 20%. But it is what it is. They cut their hours down, so get there way early, 7 pm is too late. Unsure why food and bar service hours end very early. But go early, enjoy the food, and still have time to head out for a movie or whatever. Parking: If crowded, there is a parking lot halfway down the block designated for the restaurant. Is lit up at night.

First off I’ve been coming to this place on and off for well over 15 years. This place went from the “go to spot” to less than mediocre. I got their enchiladas which are all right, but nothing to brag about. I also ordered a steak taco, which was terrible. The meat had a different taste and it was extremely gristly and chewy, leading me to discard almost half of the meat in my taco. Such a disappointment. What I really didn’t care for was the fact that I told the waitress that more than 50% of my steak was grizzly dry and rubbery and she looked at me like what do you want me to do about it. I literally took one bite of it and complained and she refused to do anything about it, not even refund or replace. When you don’t provide quality food then that’s on your part to make it right for your customers. Such a shame, that I won’t be returning here again. Oh and 18% gratuity thats sneakingly added on to the bottom of your receipt. I’m sorry but the service that I have received the past few times has not been worth 18% gratuity. I guess with an 18% gratuity already added on you can treat your customers however you want without a fear of little to no tip!

I am So disappointed! I've been going to Conejitos since the 70s when Jose the original owner was always present. We went in Oct. & everything was great as always. It must be new management now. AUTOMATIC 18% gratuity for EVERY CHECK! they screwed themselves, I usually tip 20% Food portion are about 1/2 for a Plate lunch. The food was good, but the friendly, generous feelings are dead! Too bad, because I won't be taking that 20 mile trip again!
