Strengths: Unique styling, unique food items. They even have toys for kids to play with. Weakness: Food is somewhat expensive. Place is self served. Place is very packed. Was researching good breakfast places near my home and ran across this unique cafe. First thing you'll notice is the decor. All I can say is it's very different. As the place was packed when I went on a rainy day, we had to wait outside as it was humid inside. Their breakfast was relatively pricey for the portions they offered. The normal waffles were good but not the one with the popcorn. My wife enjoyed her Earl grey Latte.
A while ago I went with my friend to the “Coming Home Café” in uptown New Westminster. We always intended to go there, but at those time it was not open or we were not hungry when we passed by. That time we made it on time for breakfast. And since then we have been there for a second time. The first time we were a bit surprised by the interior that we had to wait since there were just few tables in the small room. The person at the counter was friendly and straightforward; treating the customers rather like a distant family member than a stranger. There was no printed menu; the items were written on a wall in a special, not really formal order. Everything was simple and easy. There was no server cutlery, cups, drinks, sauces had to be taken by oneself. At our first visit we ordered “Becky” 2 poached eggs on toast, with ½ avocado and a small salad and the “Uptown” 2 scrambled eggs, meat, hash browns and toast. At the second time we wanted to eat “Heart Attack” and “Eh’Scape Benny” Black Olive Waffle, Tzaziki/Cream cheese, spinach, olives, sundried tomatoes + garlic scopes. Although the place is not large, it took always quite some time until our meal were ready since there were just two people preparing the food in the kitchen. I was surprised about the hash browns. They were rather pan fried diced potatoes with onions and bacon than the classical hash browns made from shredded potatoes. The taste was also a bit unusual – the potatoes tasted a bit sour. First, I thought that the potatoes were old and started fermenting which can cause a sour taste. But when I talked to the chef he told me that it most likely came from the added lemon juice. I don’t know why they add so much lemon juice; I found that taste a bit disturbing. Besides that, everything tasted well. Depending on the item the price was moderate to medium high. This is certainly a place that can be visited occasionally. 3.5 out of 5
Wow, this place offers some pretty funky visuals, home warming service and food that is extremely comforting to the soul. The chef here is daring and likes to take on experiments. I had a special of the day that was cheezie beyond all means meaning, EVERYTHING, had cheese in it with a little extra cheese... cheezies. So good!!! I recommend this place to give a go if you are a foodie like me. You won't be disappointed.
Always a treat to come here. Everything on the menu is incredible. You cannot possibly go wrong here. Try everything. Enjoy. Indulge. You will keep coming back, as it's like coming home.
It's my favourite homey brunch spot - the food is consistently great and I love the lazy susan of hot sauce. Edit: The specials are also amazing. And I love the salt & pepper shaker collection.
Heart attack brunch. Love it but wished there were more meat. Super friendly staff and joked next time they'd do a double up of my dish.
Vegan scrambler was very good although it would be nice to have toast with it, and 2 dollars for a sprinkle of Daiya is absurd. The vibe is amazing, love the staff, very cozy. Will try a different vegan option next time, they do have several.
Finally made the bus adventure from Coquitlam to find this cafe. 12/10 can't wait for the next adventure. If you're wondering if it's as good and as fun as the pictures... It isn't. It's easily so much more. Love love love!
A friendly service and great place for brunch. I'm always coming back here when I'm in the area. Limited street parking but shouldn't be a problem finding a spot. Transit accessible.
I loved my naan pizza, definitely coming back for that Mac n cheese grilled sandwich ‍
