We might as well have gone to Golden Corral. I chose Coltivare for our Mother's Day brunch based on reviews, an excellent Brunch menu and their "farm to table" reputation. We drive 45 minutes expecting a relaxed menu service meal in a nice restaurant; what we got was a hotel breakfast buffet in a banquet hall. It seems the buffet announcement was buried under the "Happenings" section of their website. As an apology for the confusion we were given the child's price ($15 from $35). The "extensive" entrees were a chicken dish, omelets, scrambled eggs, and sliced ham. The sides were bacon, sausage, hash browns, and Mac & cheese. There were (bagged) spinach and mixed greens salads as well as (store bought) pastries. There was nothing "fresh", "seasonal", or "local" (unless you count "local" wholesalers). There were no salad or dessert plates, tables were not regularly bused, we weren't asked about more wine until the end of the meal, or offered coffee refills until the bill was brought. This was the most disappointing dining experience I've had in years. I can't recommend Coltivare and doubt I'll return.

I wanted so badly to love this place. The ambience is great, the beer menu was solid, but the food was just okay. I'm not sure if I was hypersensitive due to the other reviews, but I tried to be objective. I had the pasta option and my date had the fish. It was $65+ for that and 1 drink for each of us. It's definitely pricy for what you get. I wonder if there is a reason that they charge so much?

Excellent service, tasty selections artfully plated in an inviting setting. Very attentive and friendly staff. Creative menu choices with delicious and unique flavor combinations. Street parking can be tricky, plan ahead.

I want this place to be great. The ambiance is amazing. Everything else is not good. The service is slow and awkward, and the food is either scalding hot, lukewarm, flavorless, or actually bad tasting. I’ve experienced each of these. Two stars is solely for the aesthetics.

Great ambiance, lots of bricks and a very Innovative interior where food and raw materials are part of the decor that makes this place unique from wholesome ingredients artfully presented and eccentric staff along with new take on traditional dishes make this place a must visit for a family or work dinner in downtown Ithaca. a warm cozy interior coupled with tasty treats a must-visit location.
