Pack it in pack it out! Beautiful place in nature that deserves to be respected! Bring a trash bag to carry your trash back with you because there are no trash cans on the trail. Out house at trailhead sometimes doesn't have toilet paper. Ice cleats recommended in winter due to the icy steep nature of the trails.
Absolutely gorgeous!! Being up on the North Fork of the Clearwater River is my heaven on earth!!
The area is always beautiful to drive through and we stopped by Jerry Johnson hot springs and the view is blissful. Restrooms: There are a few pull outs along the way that have public outhouses, they were stocked with toilet paper and fairly clean in most of the ones we stopped at.
Took the Lolo motorway from Powell the the end of the road, literally. The way out that we were told about at the visitor's center, was blocked by landsides and pavement falling away. According to the map they gave us at the visitor's center we would have to turn around and go back to Powell 90miles and 6 hours back. Fortunately we figured a way out. So District ranger please let people at the visitor center know the road conditions and any roadblocks. Other than spending 9hours traveling the motorway, which is extremely work the timeNOMINIVANS The road is places is very rugged. It was worth the time gas and aggravation.
We were east of Moscow Idaho for an elk and whitetail deer hunting trip. These mountains were absolutely beautiful to hunt in, a little thick in some places but perfect habitat for wildlife. Creeks running threw them and they weren't horribly steep. Most of where we hunted was around 4000ft elevation and the tallest mountains were around 6000 ft. Huge clear cuts about 10 years in age and all of them bordered by tall timber. In 5 days hunting we saw 1 black wolf, 3 huge bull moose which was an incredible thing to see up close, all total we saw 5 moose, numerous flocks of wild turkeys, about 35 white tail deer and 5 elk one which was the one we got on an evening hunt. The weather was absolutely incredible for the second week in October a bit too nice for hunting but was probably one of the best hunting trips we've ever had. We will definitely be going back for another hunt next year!!
What a fun drive to an amazing view. Go explore!!
Passed through on the way to the 7-Devils Campground. Enjoyed the ride up and views.
Awesome scenic drive from Montana into Idaho.
See the three deepest canyons in north america after driving a road that gains over 66 hundred feet in elevation as you pass the seven devils and approach heavens gate.
A slice of heaven.
