Story

We offer a full menu selection. Breakfast is offered on Saturday and Sunday. 8-12:00 (SATURDAY); 8-1:00 pm (SUNDAY). Our menu includes Burgers, Wraps, Salads, Sub Sandwiches, Appetizers, Pizzas, Hand made milkshakes, Calzones, Broasted Chicken and a full dinner menu. Friday Night is steak night. Walking up to this diner from the outside seemed simple, but when you walk in the culture overwhelms you. Its like a blast from the past or walking into a swap meet meet. Truly amazing. The array of signs and license plates make you feel memorized as if they were telling you their styles from the walls. As I inched In and took a right another amazing feature. Old Volkswagen bugs hollowed out just enough to fit a table and 2 benches. The patina on the vehicles were amazing. As we sat down in a buggy the resembled Herbie. While the kind waitress was getting us some coffee I looked around and like a kid a candy store starstruck and wanting to touch everything. The bar area was a vintage Oldsmobile grill. Amazing. All the walls paid tribute to all 50 U.S states in license plates. They had motorcycle plates, and even out of country states. Truly an amazing collection. The automobile memrobilla was very unique. Then it hit me as I looked out the glass. This wasn't an ordinary window but old garage doors. This amazing restaurant was an old station and they decided to keep with the theme. While all my amazement was still settling in I managed to order some breakfast Chicken fried steak a truly American classic in hopes the food was amazing as the decor. In a quick jiffy faster than an oil change the aroma of sausage, bacon, eggs reached our table before the waitress did. The moment of truth arrived as I took a clean cut of thick fried steak mouth watering eyes fixed on the fork I dig in. The taste did not disappoint. With closed eyes reminded me of my grandparents house on a sunday morning. Delicious would be an understatement. What also amazed me was the portions. As if the cook knew that my appetite was that of the gods. After another coffee top of I walked around impressed at every corner. With permission I took pictures to share my amazing experience. I recommend this delicious oasis in the small town of Anaconda. You will not be disappointed.

Cool concept, an old service station converted into a restaurant.  You can sit in old VW bugs that have been fitted with dining tables. The food was your average diner food although the owner does try to offer some unique specialty items to set themselves apart. Unfortunately, instead of ordering a regular hamburger I made the mistake of perusing their gourmet choices. While looking over the menu I noticed a burger that was topped with blue cheese crumbles and jalapenos. I was pretty impressed to see something like this in Montana as I often order blue cheese burgers but only find them back east or in larger cities on the west coast. 

When I got my burger, I picked it up and a ton of watered down blue cheese salad dressing poured out of the back. I put down the burger and looked under the hood, there was a mound of pickled jalapenos covered in blue cheese dressing. Most burger snobs would have send the burger back because the of dressing and not crumbles being used, also because jalapenos were not raw and fresh but pickled instead.

Luckily for this establishment I love pickled jalapenos and blue cheese dressing. So I tore into the burger which was well cooked and topped with fresh veggies(minus the jalapenos of course). The watery blue cheese dressing was a bit off putting but I was famished and finished off the burger along with the best fries I have ever eaten.

Almost immediately after l had finished I could tell something was wrong. My stomach began churning and long story short had to spend a great deal of time in the restroom during the next couple of days. I'm pretty sure it was the turned blue cheese dressing that did me in. The rest of my party had ordered regular burgers, soup and chicken wings, they had no issues. 

The servers were very nice; however, they did leave the front dining area unattended quite often, became a bit frazzled while jiggling only two tables and sat at the bar talking to friends.

Although I had a terrible experience, I would still give this diner another chance. I loved the atmosphere, appreciated the attempt at upscaling the menu, the servers friendliness, and the food which (minus mine) was pretty good. Just stick to the good ol standbys and don't try their attempt at anything fancy.

Wonderful atmosphere! Great staff! Try the sirloin or the jalapeno blue burger.
