It is simply ridiculous that they offer no refunds or other compensation for rescheduling their events. Many of us were planning to go to the 2023 Luminary Loppet but it was rescheduled later to 2/18 when our group already planned a trip to Mexico. We get an e-mail that stated they have a no refund policy, they’re sorry, and we could have our tickets transferred. I am beyond disappointed that the only answer is, “well it’s our policy, so you’ll have to figure it out yourself.” We loved the Luminary Loppet and plan to go every year. But if this is the service the foundation treats their donors and customers, I have no interest in supporting it or recommending others support it for the future. Thanks but no thanks.
Really bad public relations idea to screw people over with an event cancelation regardless of policy look at people individual situations . They are making double the money now on one event and refusing to refund or extend tix for next year . Unbelievable .
Predatory. They sold expensive tickets for an annual event, then moved the date, and refuse to refund ticket purchases even for folks who can’t attend on the new date. Regardless of whether the terms of the ticket sales allow them to engage in such anti-consumer conduct, it’s a poor business practice. Never sending another dime to this group of crooks.
This place is amazing and wonderful my man n his daughter run this restaurant .
Change the time of one of their events last minute and would not offer refunds. I wonder if they realize that people don't have an unlimited free schedule with complete flexibility. Very disappointed. Have utilized their classes and races multiple times but will not be doing it again.
Great organization for nicely priced group and private xc ski lessons. My whole family enjoys the events they put on year-round!
I’m really disappointed in the Loppet Foundation. I wanted to upgrade my pass from a natural snow pass to an all access pass, and I talked to someone who told me this was possible if I paid 40$ more. Then I called later to confirm, and they said that this isn’t possible. Not only is the foundation unaccommodating to skiers, but their employees give conflicting information. Also, I’m interested in taking skate skiing lessons, which costs 35$ and includes a pass for the day. I have a pass but they said I would need to pay for another day pass for the ski lesson. This is absurd!. I won’t be buying a year pass from them again next year.
Their new building is amazing. It is almost fully operational. As far as I can tell, you can rent everything. They are still working on a cafe, but everything else is open. The trails we're open fast and they are nice to ski on.
Has 3 main trail loops. If you like downhills you would like this place, but be prepared to climb. Trails are flow, not technical. Family friendly, have youth camp events during the summer. Nearly everyone here has good trail etiquette in comparison to Elm Creek single track.
Many of these reviews seem to be reviews of people's experience at Theodore Wirth park. While the Loppet is involved with Theodore Wirth, it does not own the park and to rate the Loppet based on Theodore Wirth park is a bit like rating a university based on its cafeteria. The Loppet organization is responsible for an incredbily broad set of activities including the excellent multi-day, multi event winter event in downtown Minneapolis. This event, as well as their summer events, help keep thousands of Minnesotans active. Additionally, the Loppet teaches XC skiing to people of all abilities I'm one of them. They advocate for the promotion of cross country skiing as well as other outdoor activities such as mountain biking. Lastly, but not least, they work in the Minneapolis school system to provide outdoor activities and experiences to young children who may not otherwise have any such exposure. If people are having bad experiences at the Trailhead, certainly they should tighten their game there. Overall, however, let's not lose sight of the fact that there would probably be no Trailhead and possibly no snow making at this park were it not for them. They are worthy of our support and donations. { I have no affiliation}.
