Chow Family Restaurant

Very rarely do chineese restaurants get a 5-Star. But Chow Family deserves it. Firstly the design/layout of the restaurant is very interesting. One thing to note I didn't go for the all you can eat buffet as it wasnt very appealing. So I'm only reviewing from the dinner menu perspective. We had the PuPu platter which is pretty cool. And sweet and sour chicken. General Gao spicy chicken. All were good. Definitely a recommendation.

Owner is always very kind & food is very well priced I always get combo plates. Food is usually very good although can sometimes be a bit dry, as I find a lot of Chinese food places sometimes are. Service is quick. All-you-can-eat when it was running always has LOTS of options for supper, seems less worth the value for lunch. Over-all a good go-to spot.

Absolutely love the place. Really cozy and nice. We had the buffet here. The Egg Rolls, Chicken Wings and spring rolls are absolutely to DIE FOR!!! SOME GOOOOD! Keep up the great work Chow!

Got an order for supper tonight and was not pleased at all. The rice was disgusting like it came out of a can,and they added chicken to it and then i try a bite of the general gaos chicken to bite into something hard. Thought it was bone so i pulled it out of my mouth and it was a oiece of crusher dust. I gave this place another try after the horrible service and food experince last time with burnt food and chow mein that had so much water in it the bag was soaked and leaked all over my car. I will say tho, management was great to deal with and gave a full refund and an apology to us.

Love this place! Honestly the best spring rolls I have ever had anywhere! Possibly the best fried rice too! Great value and consistently well cooked. Order off the menu though, the buffet is not fantastic like the freshly made menu items. Drink prices are totally reasonable too.

My husband and I went there around 4 on Saturday and we were very pleasantly surprised. We both ordered the combo plates, K $11.15 for him and M $12 for me. These portions were massive, they really fill these plates to there max capacity! The food itself was very flavorful and cooked very well. The atmosphere was a standard Chinese buffet look and the staff was very friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend trying this place out if your in Truro! We will be trying the buffet next time to see if it has the same quality.

Over the years I have eaten at the Chow Family whenever I was in town and the food was always delicious as was the service. However, it sure has gone downhill since they changed it to buffet style. Was in yesterday and tried the buffet and was very disappointed. Although the flavor was good the food was COLD! Definitely not worth the $16.09 for lunch and I had water as a beverage. In future I will never order the buffet.

Placed my order and was told to come in an hour. when I arrived the lobby was full of people who had also placed orders and were waiting frustrated. Come to find out they were over promising which caused a huge back log. It was another hour wait until my food did come. In that hour many people had come back due to order mix-ups. They kept telling it wouldn't be long, one actually word for word said, it will be about 10 minutes maybe 15 25 at the most I don't think it will take longer. It seemed to me the owners were micro managing and the staff didn't have a clue. The staff apologized but I did not get one ounce of sympathy from the owners. In the end the food was very rubbery and lacked taste. Last time I will go there.

This place isn't bad, but i haven't visited this place in several years.
