Chon Tong Thai Restaurant

There are 3 Thai restaurants in Sidney however hidden away, Chon Tong is the gem. They receive positive reviews by reputation. Offering great service in combination with delicious and generous portions. Prices are definitely affordable with no frills. There are dinner special combos with 8 choices under $9.95 is best value to avoid. catastrophic decisions. My recommendation is Pad Thai a popular stir fry rice stick noodle (rice linguine) being a can't go wrong pick. To the adventurous than point to menu with well worded description accompanied with delicious pictures to guide. The thai curries, either red, yellow or green are served with a spice level from low, medium to high heat. Inform your server the burn level when ordering. If not too adventurous stay with low to be cautious. We had deep fried prawn won tons, pok pok salad, tom yam goong (prawns in a hot sour broth), grilled chicken with lemon grass & a stir fry mix seafood in a curry sauce which I recollect came recommended by the waiter and was not in the menu. A well balance pick of appy, green salads, soups & entree. Our choices of 5 items were good to be shared between 4 - 5 guest. May I add that rice is $2/bowl, the serving was large so a bowl between 2 guest is suffice. Dessert menu was avaliable but we skipped at least not this visit We are returning customers and do find the chef occasionally leaves the kitchen to chat with customers to receive comments with regards to her cuisine At the end of the dinner the tab came to just over $59 not inclusive tips, returning home stuffed and satisfied. 🥗✔🌶👍🇨🇦

So hungry late on a Sunday night and just happened by this place, so friendly and accommodating when I asked for vegan options. Delicious food!

Great food. Lovely staff. They need help - orders can be slow. But it's worth the wait!
