I tried a new diner downtown near a bus stop I rarely go to. I couldn't resist trying out its menu, and I was satisfied. I especially enjoyed the La Paz batchoy, which was delicious and generously portioned, perfect for the cold weather. Their prices were also reasonable, making a great value for money. To top it off, the owner personally served and welcomed me. We had a good conversation since it wasn't too busy when I visited. I highly recommend this restaurant because it feels like home.
Chicken Hauz’ grilled chicken inasal is phenomenal. Juicy, flavourful, sauced just right — delicious enough to go downtown for. This restaurant is in a rough spot if you’re picking up food very late at night, but the owners are friendly, professional, and make you feel safe. During the day, this spot is well-frequented and conveniently located for nearby students and office workers. Give yourself about 20 minutes to pick up here as their chicken is grilled fresh. If you get hungry while waiting, their halo halo is also great and comes out quickly!
Food is great! Staff are friendly and the overall atmosphere is pretty comfortable! You won't go wrong with the food you choose because it's served fresh and taste great!Food: 5/5
I ordered the 3 piece fried chicken combo. The chicken was ok. The meat was juicy but the skin was soft and rubbery. The breading on the outside was crispy on top but very soft and greasy on the bottom where it was touching the plastic take out container. Most of the breading fell off while trying to eat and what breading I did get did not have much flavour, just crispy flour. There was also much grease left at the bottom of the container. It took 3 napkins to soak it all up. The fries were great. I love a good salty french fry. The gravy had a nice flavour, almost like the old KFC gravy when it tasted good. The pineapple juice you get with the combo was a refreshing surprise rather than the usual soda's. Overall I dont think I will go back for the fried chicken but the fries might bring me back.
First time here and the food was amazing! Got the chicken burger and it was freshly made, filled with toppings, and super delicious. Had a big slab of thick, fried chicken that was perfectly cooked. Fries were great too. Will be back for more!Food: 5/5

Me and my friend decided to pick up in person but take out dinner tonight. I went there knowing that I wanted to get the fried chicken and fries, and I knew that my friend would want to get the inasal chicken that everyone was talking about on here. When we got there they were completely sold out of fried chicken and felt genuinely awful about it as well as onion rings. So last minute I chose to order the 3 kid-sized chicken fingers with fries. The fingers aren't fingers. . . If you have children be advised that they will not be the shape that you're expecting. They almost seemed like thin pieces of chicken chips? Imagine the shape of a corn chip, but inside of the corn chip was chicken. It was strange. I can tell though because of how it was fried that the fried chicken would have been really good! The fries were just okay, the odd bite had more seasoning than the rest of them, but honestly not ones that I would want to order again. The chicken that she got was really good although she upgraded from rice to poutine. The poutine they gave they put into the same large takeout boxes. Everything else, with just a few cheese curds on top of it. So, not a very good poutine. When we got there about half of the tables were filled up with people, it was a light atmosphere but there was a lot of din and so one-on-one conversation would have been a little bit more limited. Overall though, for a place to take out from it's a solid-- will in a pinch, won't unless I want that good, very specific chicken-- kinda place. I'm sure that some of their other non-fried foods are delicious, and I think there's a chance. I will try it again. Parking: The parking is located behind the building. There's about six spots. There's a lot of construction there at the moment, but if you look to your right hand side you'll still be able to pull in near where the dumpsters are. Wheelchair accessibility: No accessible door. No buttons. Unable to be widened. High countertop, I'm 5'2 and the cash register was at my eye level. Their machine was separate from the cash register though so it could be handed down easily. The chairs are all movable and the tables are far enough apart that there is definitely room to sit!
The grilled chicken inasal is AMAZING - such a large portion for only $6.99! Just the right amount of char, sweet and savoury marinade covers every inch of the tender chicken thigh. The place looks pretty ordinary from the exterior but I will definitely be coming back to try more things on the menu!
Nice restaurant. I got the chicken burger. It was actually pretty good. My toppings were fresh and yeah I actually enjoyed it. The guy that was serving me was very nice. He gave me Chipotle sauce too. I thought I seen Filiphino springrolls on the menu. So I will come back soon :
